I am not sure why there is half a page for veal when the veal we are served is tough and chewy. Not impressed 😕. The draft beer is about a 8/10 on coldness. The nice touch is the olives and banana pepper withe the bread and oil. I feel that there are better options around for Italian. The plates look appetizing but you will understand what I am saying once you dig in. The ravioli and seafood pasta were alright nothing over the moon.
Excellent food with generous portion sizes. The staff were exceptionally courteous and attentive, which made the experience very enjoyable and well worth the cost for two people(100$). The Christmas decorations were beautifully done and created a warm, festive atmosphere. The only minor drawback was the price of the wine, particularly by the glass. We ordered the meat lasagna, which was very large and rich, with plenty of cheese and sauce (with extra shredded cheese added). The salmon and shrimp pasta was also delicious, served with a well-balanced creamy sauce. Prior to the main courses, olives were served with sliced bread and an olive oil and balsamic dipping sauce, which was a nice touch.
Wonderful evening in this warm and charming high end restaurant. Food was delicious, service was great. The Christmas decorations added to the warmth of the season. The sound level made conversation easy-flowing through our party of six. Highly recommend Mamma Teresa Ristorante for a special night out.
I truly believe this is the best Italian restaurant in Ottawa. Mama Teresa is not only popular with locals but is also a favorite spot for politicians and well-known personalities. The food is simply outstanding—everything we tried was insanely delicious, and the portions were very generous. We celebrated an important event here and were impressed by how everything was presented: elegant, stylish, and with great attention to detail. The atmosphere is clean and refined, and the service feels very solid and professional. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we left more than satisfied. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine in Ottawa.
The service started ok, but as soon as we asked for salt for one of the dishes, the server never returned. The lady refilling our water ended up taking our dessert order which we never followed through on since the primary item we wanted (chocolate cake) was out and the others all had alcohol. We did not feel there was any reason for the original waiter to ignore us as we also ordered 2 appetizers, a glass of wine and a cocktail. The garlic bread was green likely due to the garlic itself but actually tasted fine. We also ordered the calamari and that was also decent. The linguine Marcella was fine. The carbonara tasted like it was made with cream. The linguine with clams was very good but the veal was very tough and dry. The worst dish was the spaghetti olio with mushrooms. It required a lot of salt. Everyone at the table had a taste and agreed. Also because the server didn’t return after we asked for the salt it took us a while to wait for the lady who refilled our waters and asked her. By then the pasta was obviously also cold. The original waiter did not come back until we requested the bill. All in all, it wasn’t an enjoyable meal. We hadn’t been back for over a decade and had fond memories but will likely not return.
