We used Metro Movers to swap furniture from a main floor room to a lower level room. We were completely satisfied. When I first called Metro all procedures and costs were explained. I received an email estimate which was also the final cost. No "surprises". The two movers arrived at our condo at the time promised. No waiting around. They were courteaous, efficient, careful, and strong. No damage was done. I would use Metro Movers again if I needed to move.
I had a change in moving plans and needed to cancel. I requested over email when I would be receiving a refund for the $103 deposit and didn't receive a response. I called 2 days later and they told me they are unable to refund a deposit which was the first I had heard of this. Their reason was they are not able to schedule a new client for the time I was slotted (which was 3 weeks away at the time of cancelation). I will not be using Metro Movers in the future. I'm upset because they seemed like a place which offered great service.
This is the second time I've called on Jorge, Kit and their team for a move. The first time they moved two households into one and the most recent, and second time, 120 miles from one house to another. Communication is easy, from the quote process, to a few days before, to the day of the move. Each piece of furniture is wrapped and protected and packed in the truck securely and with care. They are prompt, polite and handle your belongings as if it were their own. These guys are top notch!
The team at Metro Movers are professional, hard working and very friendly. They were 1/3 the cost of the big named moving companies. I highly recommend their services.
The facts. Requested a move on 9/9 for 9/19 to 9/22. Originally I was planning 9/19, but weekends are $10 per hour per person so Kit sent the estimate for 9/22. I modified my plans for 9/22 to make that work. Did the requested videos and received a quote on 9/10. I asked for and received proof of insurance on 9/10. On 9/11 I sent an email saying lets proceed, next steps. All seemed great and with a untouched rating of 5.0, I assumed everything was good to go. No response to the email occurred. I called today, 9/15, and was told by Jorge over the phone that 9/22 has been booked for weeks, but he can make the weekend work, for an extra $10 an hour per person. That doesnt sound terrible until you understand it was 3 guys for 8 or 9 hours. Had they honored monday's, rate I would not have posted this as it is a minor inconvenience to make Sunday work. This feels like bait and switch. Jorge said 9/22 was booked for weeks this morning and Kit knew I was flexible on timing over that weekend. Jorge said I didn't sign the quote so it doesn't matter. I sent an email on 9/11 asking for next steps lets get this on the books. I was waiting for the proof of insurance, and my time does matter. Moving has a lot of moving parts. These are the facts of my interaction with this company. They are not moving me so I cannot testify to their work. However, the interaction has created a large speed bump for my plans. I was supposed to be out 9/22 and on 9/15 I have just been told they have been booked for weeks. Again, just the facts.
