This started as a simple stopped tub drain. On Tuesday morning, I called Mr. Rooter Plumbing and explained that I believed a child’s toy was stuck in the drain. I asked what it would cost to unclog it and was told a technician would assess the issue and provide a flat-rate quote. I was also told someone could come out within a few hours. The technician quoted $350 to snake the drain. Reluctantly, I agreed because we had standing water in the tub. After working for a couple of hours, he was unable to get the snake down the drain. He then claimed the issue must be where old 1¼" brass piping met newer 1½" PVC before the P-trap and said those sections needed to be replaced for $1,100. When I declined, the price immediately dropped to $950, which I reluctantly accepted. I was promised someone would arrive Wednesday between 8–9 AM. That did not happen. At 10:49 AM, I called and was told the technician would now arrive between 4–6 PM. At 6:34 PM, I received a text saying he couldn’t make it due to an electrical fire at his house. While I was sympathetic, I still had a tub full of standing water. We rescheduled for Thursday, 3–5 PM, and I was offered $150 off. The technician finally arrived Thursday around 5 PM. He said he needed to check his truck for parts and might have to run to Home Depot—which was surprising given how basic the repair was. Sure enough, at 5:18 PM, I received a text saying he was going to the store. He was gone for nearly an hour. When he returned, instead of removing water properly, he decided to cut the pipe and drain the tub into buckets. Despite assuring me he had enough buckets, water ended up everywhere. He repeatedly went in and out of the house without replacing the red boot covers he initially wore, tracking snow and dirt throughout the house. After reassembling everything, the drain still did not work, and it leaked. He sealed it with silicone, but the tub still wouldn’t drain. When asked if he found any obstruction, he said no—everything was “clear.” He then said the original technicians would come back the next morning to snake the drain now that the old piping was removed. Then, without saying a word, he left the house. He left behind a flooded basement area, water soaked under foam floor tiles, wet rags everywhere, PVC shavings, and a cracked tote leaking water across the floor. Instead of asking for help or even notifying us, he simply disappeared. I had to clean up the entire mess myself. On Friday morning, after again waiting past the scheduled time, I called and spoke with Britney, who patiently listened and said she would notify a manager. Later that day, a manager arrived, listened to the entire story, snaked the drain, and fixed the problem. In the end, the original clog was resolved with a simple snaking, exactly what I was told on day one. The manager asked what I felt was fair, and we agreed that $350—the original unclog fee—was appropriate. That is all we were charged. While I appreciate the final technician making it right, this experience involved missed appointments, inflated pricing, poor workmanship, property damage, and a technician leaving without notice after creating a mess. A straightforward plumbing issue should never take multiple days and this level of frustration. I would not recommend Mr. Rooter based on this experience.
**Update - The owner called me and insisted on scoping my pipes again. After I told him no, he got mad and threatened me with litigation over this review. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - TRIED TO SCAM ME I started with Mr. Rooter in 2024 for emergency roots blocking my pipes. They hydro jetted my line and it worked for a year. In October 2025, I had them come back out for the same issue (I had a tree removed so I expected to have this issue until the tree roots rot away). A month later, I had water back-up in my basement so they came back out. They then proceeded to tell my that my pipes were disintegrating, they could see where the "Y" was splitting open and that I was going to need to rip up my floor and replace the cast. I decided to call another company out to take a look and give me an estimate. Not only was one of my pipes never inspected, that they claimed to have opened (the cap was clearly never removed), my pipes were inspected on camera with no signs of damage at all. I saw the "Y" with my own eyes and it looks practically brand new. They also informed me that where Mr. Rooter claimed to have run the camera, it is impossible to even get the camera through the access he claimed. Call a locally owned plumber and avoid this company at all costs or you'll end up paying thousands for work you don't need.
Well, 2026 is off to an interesting start for us. 🥴 As many of you know, homeownership is so much fun, and we got a taste of it last night. Our neighbors across the street had been having plumbing work done all week long. And yesterday, my fiancé was trying to clean our fish tank, and the sink wouldn’t drain. So, he tries to drain the water down the toilet from a bucket and the toilet won’t flush. Then we hear gurgling coming from the drains. Im thinking this has to be related to them having work done. I instantly try to call all the plumbers in town, but it of course was almost 5pm on a Friday and everyone couldn’t get us in until Monday at the soonest. I was not about to wait all weekend without knowing what was wrong with the pipes. Mr. Rooter was able to send someone out last night, without charging an extra “emergency service fee” like everyone else was trying to. Brandon and his apprentice were super knowledgeable, kind, and explained everything that was going on to us. We had a bunch of roots bound into our pipes from allllll of the walnut trees around our house, and there was a cell phone in our pipes. 😂😂😂😂😂 we all had a good chuckle about that. They were here for about an hour, got everything cleaned out and no more worries about the pipes until hopefully after we’re long gone from this place 🤦🏼♀️ I just feel very grateful that it was a “simple” fix, and not our pipes being busted or anything.
We had a plumbing emergency when our main water valve broke- This company came out quickly to help. They were friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable, which immediately put us at ease during a stressful situation. They handled everything with care, clearly explained what needed to be done, and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be using them again in the future and highly recommend them.
Water heater failed at a tenant’s property while I was out of town, and tech Eli handled everything remotely with great communication and professionalism. This was two days after Christmas, and he still found the exact brand I wanted. He sent before-and-after photos, and the install looked clean and well done. Price was $2,800 for a 40-gallon gas unit installed—I thought was slightly high but what isn’t these days, but overall a very smooth and positive experience. Was able to install same day too!
