I started taking guitar lessons this year as part of my 2025 goal to finally learn how to play a full song—and I’m so grateful I chose this school. From day one, Matt tailored my lessons to fit my goals, learning style, and musical interests. My instructor, Payton, has been absolutely incredible. They structured each class in a way that made learning feel natural and exciting—breaking things down step-by-step so that every week felt like real progress. Playing guitar became fun, motivating, and genuinely gratifying. Since joining, I’ve developed a whole new appreciation and love for music that I never expected. One of the best parts of this school is that Matt also organizes music jam sessions for students. Getting the chance to play alongside others at all different levels has been such a unique and inspiring experience. It helped build my confidence and made learning even more enjoyable. I decided to take piano lessons because I was looking for something more enriching than my usual routine, something that would let me move away from just playing video games in my spare time. I’ve really enjoyed my experience at Music Lessons Arizona with Matt Friedland. Years ago, my daughter Emma took guitar lessons from Matt, and when I started thinking about picking up the bass again after years of playing off and on, I decided to reach out—mainly for accountability and to improve musically. Before joining, I found myself playing randomly without much direction. I was honestly a bit intimidated to play with others, since I hadn’t done it regularly in so long. But once I joined Matt’s Jazz Studio class, that changed quickly. The sessions gave me focus, and I started to feel much more comfortable playing with other musicians. I especially enjoy the Saturday classes, which lean toward jazz, funk, and blues—tunes like Cissy Strut are right in the sweet spot for me. Thursdays have more of a classic rock vibe, and it’s great to have both options. The classes are engaging and collaborative, and the other students enhance the whole learning experience. What stands out most is how Matt adapts to students of all levels—whether you're a beginner or more experienced, he makes the material approachable and ensures everyone gets something valuable out of each session. He’s great at integrating a wide range of players into a cohesive, fun learning environment. For me, music is more than just a hobby—it’s a release from work and other responsibilities, and these classes help me reconnect with that more spiritual side of playing. I have had a desire to play the piano since I was a young boy. My grandfather is a proficient player and I always looked up to him as a pianist. I had a hard time committing to the piano, so I put it off for decades. I felt encouraged when I discovered Music Lessons Arizona and read so many positive student reviews and got familiar with the programs. As an adult beginner, I felt VERY encouraged after my consultation with Sherin. She shared some success stories with students and let me now there are plenty of adult beginners! I am only about 2 months in to my lessons and I am astonished at the progress. The lessons are "the fastest hour of my life" because they are packed with practice, theory, and fun! Special shout out to Laura for getting me started on my piano journey and encouraging me to love the piano and make it FUN. I would recommend Music Lessons Arizona to ANYONE who feels like they could benefit from lessons and structure. Although I am a beginner, I can tell Sherin and her staff teach at the highest level. I look forward to my lessons every Sunday!
Ms Sherin is the best piano teacher ever. My girls have been learning piano from her for almost two years. Ms Sherin was very patient and nice. She corrected their hand positions and polished each piece very detailed. Also she taught my girls how to listen to the classical music. She gave kids a lot opportunities on the stage to show themselves. I am very thankful to choose her as our piano teacher.
