We got the best service from Adya & Leah! Our breakfast sandwiches were tasty & I enjoyed their seasonal latte as well. Definitely try their macarons too!
I moved to Durham over a year ago, and I hadn't found a coffee shop where I regularly wanted to hang out and, on a good day, get some work done. Nectar may be The One. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with new, modern decor. Plus, it wasn't too crowded (at least at noon on a Tuesday). I enjoyed a flat white and a tasty ham-and-cheese croissant, and the staff who prepared it were absolutely lovely! They offer seating options for people with laptops, as well as cushy chairs/sofas for those who want to chat with a friend or just relax. It's located between Foster St. and Rigsbee Ave. To avoid paying for parking, try parking on Rigsbee, which is really close and free. If anyone is craving a temporary hide-out, Nectar has a second floor!
I absolutely adore this place! The coffee is pretty good and the pastries are absolutely scrumptious. The staff is super friendly and down-to-earth, and they make you feel like you’re part of their family. There’s plenty of seating options, and they even have a lovely patio. And guess what? They have wine too!
Friendly service. Their iced mocha uses a dark chocolate powder which wasn't overly sweet, which is my preference. Ham and cheese croissant was very dry and overbaked. They do not validate parking in the garage, so it turns it into a slightly more expensive endeavor unless you live within walking distance. There must be an hourly minimum charge as I paid $3 for 23 minutes.
The folks at Foster St Coffee (owners)have done it again with this new location called Nectar! Excellent atmosphere superbly appointed in the new Geer House building. It's a big city vibe in up and coming Durham, but with an impressive interior and exterior that invite you to stay awhile. Well done to Dan and team for pulling this off. I'd love to highly recommend it, but it's the double edge sword of revealing the hip new spot and having it become overrun with hipsters and long lines. I'll be back, and wish the team all the success that comes with doing something this well. Even if it means I won't get the best table or zero lines someday. Oh, and if you're Gluten Free like me, you'll LOVE all the GF pastry options they have (as of this writing at least). Try the Frangipane! No pour overs here though, sadly. If that's your jam, walk a few blocks to Cocoa Cinnamon and over pay for a delicious cup. But, seriously, Few places in Durham can match this vibe. And let's be honest, that's at least half the attraction of the third space anyway, isn't it?
