Dont waste your time here. They are a bunch of crooks. $1027 to a replace a radiator that then failed, blew my engine and ended up costing me over $5000 in repairs. In what world does a radiator replacement cost over $600. They didnt even replace the thermostat for that price. If you want an expensive job, with crappy parts and crappier people, go here. Why now: Because you didnt take my complaint seriously and after reading all your other 1 star reviews you have. I think it was worth a reminder for you to do the right thing by your customers and for people to know what kind of shop you run. The only reason my engine blew was because of your dodgy radiator and shotty workmanship. It had to be fully replaced again along with all the components and my engine. Nothing to do with the age.. Take ownership of your work. Have a read of all your 1 start reviews and reflect on how you treat people and repeat of the same problem again and again. Its a trend. Its not me its you.. seems to be your only offensive. Its working great now no thanks to you. I had all brand new tyres. 🤣 your a joke.. have a great day cowboy. Went to them because I had moved into CBD and wanted a nearby mechanic. Quoted $1000 for service to which l said no. Cost me $500 at another mechanic which I had previously used. Told me the battery needed replacing. I told them it was still under warranty and I would get it replaced under the warranty. Battery was dead flat when I picked up the car ( never been a problem before). Got it started and drove to the supplier who tested it and said it was in very good condition. Got an independent check by mechanic I had formerly used who said it was in excellent condition. Will never to back to Newcastle Automotive. Cannot be trusted
My car has stopped working in the middle of traffic and was due for annual service so after NRMA came out and put the reader on the car it came up with a P001700 code. So I took the car to NAS and the annual service was done beautifully no doubt about that and they said that the oil was very low so that could‘ve been why the cam and krank shaft sensors were causing an issue and the code has come up on the reader. So they swapped the oil out filled it up and the engine light and code went away but when I went to pick up the car and turned it on the light came back on. So I was told it could be that the entire time chain system and tensioner has to be swapped out which I was told was gonna be expensive because fixing can take multiple day which was all fine. However nothing else was communicated to me. They never called me with any updates only if I called them, I was never told that I will have to wait 6 and a half weeks for them to fix up the car because if I knew I would‘ve instantly taken it somewhere else or would‘ve just waited for my service appointment at the dealer. After waiting 6 and a half weeks calling at least once every week to give me an update and every week they told me they should be able to start working in it the next week giving me false hopes and every single time on the phone they just shrugged everything off talked like it‘s completely normal to wait 6 and a half weeks for what turned put to be a 10 hour job. And after finally thinking I can pick up the car and paid $3000 the engine light was still on and wanted to charge me another $3000 to take the car apart again and fix something else even tho the issue remained. To sum it up their customer service is pretty much non-existent or maybe it was just because I was a woman coming from a different country.
Today we drove to Newcastle to show a friend around who is visiting Australia for the first time. Halfway there, our alternator broke and we really needed help. We tried two repair shops but they were full and couldn’t take us. Then we found David’s workshop. He made time for us and fixed the car so we could get home safely. We’re really thankful — David was patient, helpful, and kind. Awesome experience. Highly recommend!
Not only is David and the team one of the few mechanics that service the inner city area, they’re also the most effective when it comes to efficiency, availability and communication. I also appreciate the fact that I was not totally ridiculed for my seatbelt obstruction (a pink feather!!!) Anyone who resides in the 2300 vicinity should get their next service here, without a doubt…
