It’s a nice restaurant at the end of the village in Little Tokyo. It’s a lot bigger on the inside than it seems. We went on a very busy day for lunch, when I signed in to the waitlist, we were about 10th on the list, but wait less than 30 mins. Parking is all over the place in Little Tokyo, but it’s as expected, though they do 2hr validation if you parked in the village. Oomasa has a good mix of Japanese dishes for everyone at a variety of price points, generally on the higher end though. I enjoyed their bento boxes. There’s a variety of them to choose from and they’re well balanced. All come with rice and miso soup. Portions themselves, like most Japanese restaurants are on the smaller side, but it’s enough to fill you up. We got the ika geso age since it’s normally one of our favorites appetizers at a Japanese restaurant. Crispy and well seasoned. I wish there was more of it. You don’t even need to use the accompanying chipotle mayo sauce, but it’s a welcomed addition We got the chicken teriyaki and sashimi bento as well as the oomasa special bento box. I really enjoyed their sashimi, all the fish was portioned well, fresh, and delicious. The teriyaki was a low point. It wasn’t bad by any means, but I wanted it to be crispier. I would recommend getting sauce on the side since it’s heavily layered in it. Green tea is from a can, not housemade. Beer is on draft. Service is excellent. Staff is friendly and helpful. They’ll check on you at appropriate times. Service was fast, we didn’t have to wait long for anything.
Located in busy Tokyo Village, Los Angeles. This is a great traditional Japanese restaurant, featuring fresh cuts of sashimi and sushi. Wonderful assortment of teishoku menu items, such as the combination tempura and sashimi for $23.50. I highly recommend their chirashi sushi/. Fresh cuts of sashimi over sushi rice with tamago. The nabeyaki udon was also delicious.
Had lunch here with my sister a few weeks ago, first time in Little Tokyo and we loved it. Polite and attentive servers, clean and relaxing environment and food was good! We ordered the chicken Karaage which was delicious and we got 2 plates of sushi that were tasty and filling. This restaurant has my recommendation 👍🏻
Busy corner restaurant, that’s smaller inside than the outside would suggest. The food was great though. The bento boxes are beautifully presented, the tempura are freshly fried.
A solid Japanese spot with a great selection and customer service was great. An overall solid Little Tokyo spot. I had their miso soup, salmon skin salad, soft shell crab appetizer, fried chicken karrage, tempura shrimp, fried tofu, salmon collar & their salmon combo. The soup was ok, the salmon skin salad was excellent along with the soft shell crab. The chicken was delicious also and the tempura shrimp was delicious especially with the hot tempura sauce which I also used for the soft shell crab. The tofu wasn’t my style, I like it a lot more fried but the flavor was there. The salmon collar was also great. I’d definitely come back here again and try their other menu items. A solid spot, but parking and getting there can get difficult unless you walk it.
