I regret to say that my experience with Oscar Flores Design Studio was nothing short of disappointing and frustrating. Despite clear communication of my budget constraints and expectations, the entire process was marred by deceptive practices and exorbitant fees. Our decision to engage Oscar Flores Design Studio for the creation of our modern house initially seemed promising. With a clearly defined budget of $1.2 million, meticulously documented in the design questionnaire provided by the studio, we embarked on what we hoped would be a collaborative and fruitful journey. Upon receiving the completed design, I was shocked to find that the estimated construction costs from multiple builders ranged from $3 to $4 million, a far cry from what was initially agreed upon. Even a builder referred by the architect himself quoted an astronomical $4 million. Moreover, the billing process was a nightmare. Initially quoted at $48,400 with a deposit paid, I was blindsided by an invoice totaling $87,596.40, justified only by an arbitrary calculation based on square footage that was never discussed or agreed upon beforehand. After challenging this unjustifiable increase, I was coerced into a new total of $64,774, a sum that still felt unjustified given the lack of transparency and accountability. Furthermore, when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the design exceeding my budget and requested a redesign, I was met with another demand for $10,000, further adding insult to injury. It became abundantly clear that the architect's primary concern was extracting as much money as possible, rather than delivering a design that aligned with my needs and financial constraints. In conclusion, I caution anyone considering hiring this architect to proceed with extreme caution. Their lack of transparency, deceptive practices, and disregard for client satisfaction make them wholly unfit for any architectural project. Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for professionals who prioritize honesty, integrity, and client collaboration.
