I had a tankless water heater (Vesta VRP) installed by Ottawa Home Service approximately two years ago. Shortly after installation in August 2023, the unit began leaking within the first one to two months. I requested a replacement after conducting my own research, but Ottawa Home Service declined and performed a temporary repair. I have used Ottawa Home Service for annual AC and furnace maintenance over the past two years. I did not service the tankless water heater, as I was advised it would not require servicing until two years had passed. In late October 2025, the water heater began leaking again. I contacted Ottawa Home Service, as I had previously been assured that the unit would be replaced if the problem recurred. This time, I faced resistance and was told I would incur service fees. I independently researched the issue and discovered manufacturer documentation, including a recall notice for this model. After multiple calls to the Vesta recall center, they sent a technician who confirmed that The unit continued leaking after the initial leak and stated that when I made Ottawa Home Service aware of the issue they should have contact Vesta right away to file a report. Vesta then shipped a replacement unit. I informed Ottawa Home Service of the findings, but they requested a copy of Vesta’s report, which I declined to provide, as it is not my responsibility to coordinate between installer and manufacturer. I did provide photos and written email documentation regarding the date the issue started to both companies. Ottawa Home Service responded by denying responsibility, claiming their original installation was acceptable, and accusing me of falsifying the initial leak date. At this point I didn't believe or trust any of the two companies anymore. I then contacted three independent tankless water heater installers. All three confirmed the same issues: incorrect gas line sizing and failure to vent the air intake outdoors. Each stated the original installation appeared to have cut corners. Following their advice, I hired one of these companies to properly reinstall the replacement unit according to code best practice and manufacturer specifications. As a homeowner, I was simply seeking a functioning and safe Hot water heater. I am deeply disappointed with Ottawa Home Service’s lack of accountability despite my loyalty and prior service history.
We recently moved into our home and had Niko from Ottawa Home Services come by for regular furnace maintenance. He was extremely professional, arrived right on time, and took the time to walk us through every step of the process. He was thorough, knowledgeable, and made sure everything was working properly before he left. We really appreciated his attention to detail and clear explanations. I highly recommend Niko and Ottawa Home Services for anyone looking for reliable and professional service.
Great service tech. Kris Schenk is the ideal tech. Able to work well and get things done even while carrying a conversation if you like to be present (technical or other). Has extensive experience and is knowledgeable. Overall great guy, highly recommend. P.S. The folks (boss ladies ;)) in the office are also great at keeping the boys in line and keeping the schedule humming along with last minute changes when needed :)
Our experience with Ottawa Home Services was excellent. Kevin met with us initially. He was pleasant, extremely knowledgeable, and thorough in his review of all options. We are very happy with our furnace and heat pump installation. Troy and Daniel were very considerate about keeping the workspace clean. Troy kept us informed about all the stages of the install including how to use the Smart thermostat and he gave us helpful andvice about the heat and air conditioning settings. Thank you for providing such excellent service.
Clayton and his teammate Nikolai were at our house for the last two days installing a new gas furnace and a heat pump. It was a fabulous experience, they were friendly, professional and took care of every little detail. Both were ready to answer all my questions (and I had plenty), they also asked and discussed items such as routing of piping, placement of the outdoor unit. They took great care of our home and left the work area clean. Thank you both!!
