I cannot overstate how much I appreciate the personalized service that I received here from TJ. He went above and beyond to listen and assess my condition. He was patient, committed, and curious as he sought to understand the underlying causes of my pain. He then recommended exercises and treatments (including dry needling) to target muscles that needed to be strengthened and others that needed to relax — something no one else had done for me in 20+ years of suffering from this. This man knows his stuff (and teaches it at the college level)! I highly recommend him. Although they do not accept insurance, the practice sent me an itemized bill for submission to my insurance company for reimbursement.
On the recommendation of my wife (who is already a happy client), I have had the pleasure of working with TJ on rehab strategies for my upcoming knee replacement surgery. TJ has already brought me numerous prehab strategies to reduce the pain prior to surgery and will be working with me post surgery (after normal PT post-op) to help get back to my past rigorous lifestyle. TJ has been great and thoughtful and I look forward to my future relationship with the practice!
Calling all golfers with lower back pain—there is a solution, and it starts with TJ. TJ was extremely knowledgeable and set me up with a rehab plan that got me back to swinging a golf club without pain. From dry needling to a complete lower-back rehab program, I have not only made real progress in eliminating pain, but I have also gained flexibility that I was seriously lacking. I highly recommend setting up an appointment with TJ if you are dealing with lower back pain. He will set you up with a clear, effective plan to recovery. Because of the flexibility I have gained through his rehab program, I am no longer plagued with the soreness I dealt with for most of my life after playing soccer or working out. Overall, my body feels better than it has in years.
Greetings, Working with Personalized Physical Therapy during Phase 1 of my recovery from major spine surgery has been an outstanding experience. What sets this clinic apart is a combination of elite anatomical IQ and a truly genuine level of human decency, and individualized care in exchange for your investment. When you invest in personalized physical therapy, you truly receive tremendous value for your money far more than what you’ll get at most physical therapy clinics. This is an elite operation being run by high-caliber human beings in terms of professionalism, effectiveness, and character. Many physical therapy centers today are corporatized. They rely on generic cookie-cutter exercise templates, and too often the therapists either lack the knowledge or the genuine concern needed to guide a patient through an effective rehabilitation. I know this because I’ve been through it over the years. Thankfully this has not been my experience at Personalized Physical Therapy. Here, you are actually treated with respect, the environment is supportive, and every therapist I’ve encountered has been both highly skilled and genuinely a good person. They don’t just give you exercises, they give you a blueprint for how to recover, regain strength, and progress to a stronger version of yourself. On top of that they take the time to explain the WHY, to provide you a chance to understand why you’re doing what you’re doing. That is powerful and the foundation of trust, which is essential towards recovery. That said, like any successful journey, it requires commitment. They can guide you, but you must be willing to follow through and put in the work if you want to heal properly and rebuild your strength. It is not a walk in the park, you have to sacrifice and do the work. And yes, the service is an investment. It is not cheap, but it is absolutely worth every penny. After facing significant adversity and attending multiple physical therapy clinics across North Carolina over the years, many of which were lack-luster, I can confidently say that not all PT clinics are created equal. In fact, I strongly advise staying away from large corporatized clinics; in my experience, they tend to offer the poorest care and the least personalized attention. This is why I am able to recognize and speak with conviction towards how Personalized Physical Therapy has been such a blessing. If you live in NC and can invest in your health, get in here, don’t mess around with anyone else. Seriously. I’m truly grateful for the knowledge, care, and respect I’ve received so far. As my recovery continues, I’ll keep you updated on the journey. - Coach Swindell
After struggling with right hip pain for a few years, I saw an orthopedic doctor who gave me a diagnosis and sent me for physical therapy. The therapy was not helping so I decided to see Dr. McClurg. His approach was not just about the diagnosis but more about the body mechanics- asking questions and looking at the whole body, not just the hip but what else impacts the hip. His evaluation revealed my areas of weakness and he designed an exercise program to strengthen those areas with adjustments as I progressed. Dr. McClurg helped me see how to manage the pain better. I am so appreciative of his caring and expertise. What is also unique about the team at PPTW is their community outreach efforts. There is such a genuine interest in helping others.
