I started the year off in excruciating lower back pain, left leg cramping and tingling in my shins after simply bending over to move the laundry into the dryer. On day one I went to urgent care who gave me muscle relaxers, day two trip to ER which I was given six day steroid and a different pain and muscle relaxer and on day three I went to my primary Doctor who sent me for x-rays. At this point nothing was helping with the pain. I wasn't sleeping, couldn't drive and couldn't stand or walk for more than a couple of minutes before the pain just knocked me to either a chair or to lay down. Even then I couldn't lay down for more than two minutes. I tried an appointment with my chiropractor and couldn't lay on the table for an adjustment because of the pain. My Doctor recommended a list of pain management Doctors! I hate needles and the LAST thing I wanted to do was get an epidural steroid injection in my back. The x-rays showed osteoarthritis. My Doctor gave me a prescription for an MRI and we all know how that all goes!! You have to wait until your insurance approves the procedure. I couldn't wait, it had already been three weeks. She told me about self pay with the imaging center (cheaper than what my deductible payment would have been). The MRI showed five bulging disc's with the L4-L5 bulging and pressing against the L4 nerve root. I talked to my daughter she said "Mom, you need to go see Nick Hunter at Preferred Physical Therapy" She said you know he's the best. I sent an email and left a message and they got me in the next day. After Nick's assessment and starting twice a week within a couple weeks the shin pain was gone, the leg pain eased up enough to walk and drive and I was sleeping. With the combination of Nick's session getting me to work on my weaker left side and get stronger along with the shockwave and EMTT (Thank you Aolani) and red light I responded really well and was walking stronger, pain free with in a short time and there were no pain injections, no surgery and no prescriptions!! At some point in March I told Nick I needed to get ready for Disneyland in October. We were going with our daughter, her husband and our two granddaughters. I really didn't think I was going to be strong enough by then but I was!! We did three full days at Disneyland in October. We walked 45,000 steps and the only pain I had was my feet. They weren't used to that many steps. I also just flew to New York to see family which I have not done because of concern sitting that long on a flight. But I am still pain free but continuing to do the things Nick has taught me. I seriously can't say enough about the experience going there. Nick Hunter and his staff and the best. Their experience, knowledge, understanding and being able to explain it to you so you get it is the best!! I certainly wouldn't be able to do all I have done these past 3 months if I hadn't gone there! Thank you @preferredptaz and @NickHunter for all you did to help me be pain free and stronger!
A great place for physical therapy The staff is very knowledgeable and easy to work with for your needs. They are courteous and provide a pleasant environment and great conversation. The office, equipment area and equipment well maintained. I highly recommended them for your physical therapy needs. 👍👍👍👍👍
After 9 months of shoulder pain and trying everything including 6 months of no tennis, I finally had an MRI, which showed two tears and surgery was recommended to repair them, with a 9 month recovery. A friend recommended I see Nick At Preferred Physical therapy as she had been helped so much with her knee pain after knee replacement. I am so thankful for that and that after 8 weeks of intense work with them, am back to playing tennis (and Pickleball), with minimum pain. Nick and his entire staff are always attentive, gentle, and persistent in helping every patient get the results they want. At 75 myself, I was so impressed with how I saw them deal with all ages, older ones to walk again, and young ones to get back to their sports. I am grateful for what they did for me and will always recommend my friends go see them when needed.
Dr Nick is GREAT at what he does. He is VERY knowledgeable and tried different exercises than other therapists do. He really thinks about your physical problems and doesn't stop trying new exercises until something works out for you. Plus they also provide red light, acupuncture, and shockwave therapy. Give them a call and ask any questions! They will find an answer for you!
This has been the best experience I have ever had with physical therapy. They are very hands on and then so knowledgeable about why the particular exercises are selected for you. I have consistently improved with the program I am on. Staff is friendly and encouraging. They keep me able to be active and do the things I love to do as I age.
