Not to be dramatic but… The little town of bulimba clung to the River Rill like moss to a smooth stone, and where the water took a sharp, whispering curve—a place the locals called the 'Elbow of Quietude'—sat a building that was less a shop and more a soft, persistent dream: Riverbend Bookstore. I cannot, in good conscience, call it merely a bookstore; it is a repository of worlds. My heart, an old map perpetually seeking a new X, finds its anchor here. The exterior, all crooked timber and windows the color of old honey, promised shelter from the mundane, and the interior delivered an entire universe. Stepping across the threshold was to shed the weight of leaden reality and don the cloak of what if. I had come seeking a simple ledger, something for recording mundane thoughts, yet what I found was far from ordinary. The notebooks, stacked on a small table near a window perpetually misted by the Rill’s song, were bound in leather the shade of twilight and smelled faintly of petrichor and ink made from pulverized starlight. The selection was vast enough to promise any possible escape, yet so perfectly curated that I felt not the panic of choice, but the gentle nudge of destiny. It was a library designed by a benevolent sorceress: everything you needed, and nothing you didn’t. I left with a book on celestial cartography and a journal whose paper seemed to already hum with words yet to be written. But the true magic, the element that anchors the entire constellation of wonder, is the staff. They are not merely employees; they are the Keepers of the Shelf-Song, each one a specialist in quiet, empathetic joy. Their smiles were the warmest light source in Limba, and their recommendations were not suggestions, but delicate acts of foretelling. They didn’t just hand you a book; they handed you the right book, often before you knew you needed it. They are, without exaggeration, the kindest and most helpful souls I have ever had the pleasure of trading coin and conversation with. With my treasures clutched close, I wandered just around the bend, where the scent of aged paper gave way to the sharp, wonderful aroma of freshly brewed possibility emanating from The Sparrow’s Nest—a cozy corner café. To nestle into a worn velvet chair there, to feel the pages of the new journal under my thumb, or crack the spine of a book promising travel across forgotten seas, is to feel profoundly and perfectly satisfied. I have already marked my calendar for my return. The Riverbend Bookstore in Limba is not just a place to buy literature; it is the little, luminous doorway to the rest of your life.
Love this independent bookshop. Have been there for book club and a quiz night - both great fun and always come away with my arms full of books and gifts.

I drove all the way from the Gold Coast to take my daughter to the café to have the Bread and Butter Pudding for her breakfast!! Needless to say pregnancy does that. What a lovely surprise it was. I had the Petite Parisienne Breakfast which was a winner for me. The staff was very friendly and helpful too. It has a perfect atmosphere. I did not dare to browse extensively in the bookshop being a bookworm myself, but it looks like a winner with something for everyone. I really liked the selection of children's books.
