We ordered the Galbijjim stew and were honestly shocked by how little food we received. For $70 before tax, the entire pot contained only three full-size beef ribs, but with barely any meat on them at all. This was supposed to be a shared dish, but it was nowhere near enough for two adults (including a female didn’t eat much)— we both left still hungry. Btw, we order a Tofu soup too. The carrots inside were still hard and undercooked, and the broth was overwhelmed by an excessive amount of greasy melted cheese, which completely overpowered any galbi flavor and made the dish feel heavy and oily instead of comforting. For the price point, the portion, quality, and overall experience were disappointing.
If you're looking for authentic Korean food, stop by Shin's Tofu! The interior is a bit smaller with limited seating so there can be a wait. Parking can also be limited during the busy weekends. As for food, my go to is the tofu soup. It is comforting to eat when you just want to feed your soul and nourish your body. Their galbi marinated short rib is also really good. Lots of flavor and good char taste to it. They have a good selection of banchan, which they will easily refill once they notice you're running low. This is a small business and everyone there have been so nice and friendly. If you're ever craving Korean food, especially tofu soup, definitely stop by here. It's worth it!
Located in Pacific Rim Plaza II, Shin's Tofu House is a tiny mom and pop Korean restaurant serving some delish eats; I'd say they are mainly known for the soups. There is plenty of parking available in shopping plaza. We came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was packed, luckily we got seated at the last table available. You can tell the folks here are passionate and hardworking. We saw ajumma running around taking care of every table and even brought over the heavy stone pot soup. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. #KoreanEats: ~ Ban chan - 4/5 One of my favourite parts of going to a Korean restaurant. The Ban Chan was good here, there was one I wasn't familiar with. Some sort of May based veggies. I wasn't a fan, but the rest were brilliant. ~ Seafood Pancake - 4/5 This was one of the better Seafood Pancakes I had in a minute. Not too oily or too crispy just right. I do wish it had more balanced seafood distribution tho... ~ Budae Jjigae (Army Stew) - 4/5 One of the most popular and well known Korean dishes. This was hearty and filling with a nice kick to it. Almost a bit much for one person to finish if you get an appetizer as well. It stays hot for a while, so be careful I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes, especially in the winter.
We got kimchi pancake and beef tofu soup. I prefer my pancake to be crispy all over, but this one is soft in the middle. There was a good variety of side dishes but it was just okay unfortunately. I’ve had side dishes from other places where they actually tasted like the main food. The tofu soup was good and had a nice broth flavor, but I didn’t really like the beef - it was too tough to chew. Customer service was good though.
Been here a few times and have always left very satisfied. Came here most recently with some family from LA and they said that the food here was really good! I got the regular bibimbap and also the seafood pancake for appetizer. Everything was really tasty and the service was great. We came on a Friday around 12 and the place was packed! Luckily we got a table when we got there, but there was a steady line of people waiting outside the door for the next hour or so.
