Good food, good vibes and of course bowling as well. They also have some arcade games which is helpful for those who don't bowl. Of course most of the games aren't really meant for anyone over 12-14 years old.
I don’t usually come to Sunray Lanes to bowl—only once in a blue moon. Today, my partner and I came just to practice. While there, we ran into some family members who were already bowling and had their own lane. We politely asked the front desk if there were any open lanes near them. We saw an open lane and simply asked if we could get that lane. The front desk employee was immediately rude and dismissive for no reason, claiming the lane had just been given away—even though no one was on it the entire time and the alley wasn’t busy. We even offered to politely ask the other party if they were willing to switch lanes, knowing most people would be understanding. Instead, the front desk staff said that if we bowled near them, we would be forced to merge with their party later because we “requested” the lane. That made no sense—we were not joining them, just bowling near family we happened to run into. After that, we were placed at the very end corner lane, which ended up breaking down. Meanwhile, the lane we originally asked for stayed empty. The attitude, lack of logic, and poor customer service were extremely disappointing. I’ve heard from some of their loyalty customers back in the day that Sunray Lanes are rude that’s why they don’t come support Sunray lanes anymore and unfortunately, I experienced it firsthand today. Because of this experience, I don’t see myself supporting or returning to Sunray Lanes again. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time here due to poor customer service, particularly from the skinny guy with glasses, front desk staff. I suggest supporting bowling alleys like Mermaid Lanes, where the staff are more professional, understanding, and treat customers with respect
Every Sunday morning for league, Kasey always greets us kindly and knows our order before we even ask. It’s clear she cares about her customers and enjoys what she does. She’s one of many great employees here!
Sunray lanes has been a staple to the upper east side for over 50 years. But when you walk into this establishment, you could never tell, it has been well kept, and is surrounded by a great staff as a whole. Our experience has been nothing but a pleasure. We had an added bonus with a bartender named Kasey. Not only was she attentive to the specific needs of my over privileged teammates, she made all of us happy… and that is a feat within itself. Thank you Kasey for your effort… and the whole staff!!! Sunray Lanes!!! Bowl, eat, gamble, drink. A great place for you and your family or next event!
I had such a great experience here thanks to Kasey. From the moment I walked in Kasey was welcoming, upbeat and incredibly helpful. Whether it was getting our lane set up, fixing a small scoring glitch or just checking to make sure we were having a good time Kasey handled everything with genuine friendliness and professionalism. If you're heading to Sunray, I highly recommend stopping by when Kasey is working- you'll be in great hands! 🎳😉
