I was a bit unsure of how i wanted to get it cut. Normally barbers at an expensive place like this are happy to give a consult but he was very impatient. When I asked him to iteratively cut 1/4th inches off my hair he got annoyed and complained I was asking for the same haircut twice. At the end of the cut he charged me 75$ (when the normal price was 55$) cause he said I made him do it twice, even though the whole thing took 35 minutes which seems very reasonable for a place like this. Probably the worst experience I’ve had at a barber shop and the only explanation I can think of was maybe I’m the wrong clientele for this shop.
Best barbershop in SF! I took my partner here as his haircuts have been subpar these pasts few months at other barbers. I’m so glad I found them, I was really impressed by the overall experience and quality of service. Angel (owner) has created a space where the energy is high and you can tell cares deeply about his customers. He also cut my partners hair, and did the best job! Exactly like the inspo pics and tailored to my partners hair. Cute shop dog named Castro was an added bonus! 10/10 experience.
Carlos was great! Highly informative, shared a bunch of tips and products I should look into. Gave me the best haircut I’ve had since switching to short hair. Will be a regular and commute in from Berkeley for this barber - it’s worth it. Highly recommended!
Ernesto at Castro Barber Lounge is the full package. He’s got that steady, confident energy that makes you feel taken care of from the moment you sit down. The cut was sharp, the vibe was fun, and he had me smiling the whole time. On top of that, he’s always plugged in with great recommendations for events and spots in SF and across the bay. Walked in looking tired, walked out looking like the main event. Easily five stars, and then some.
Can’t recommend Angel enough for the best haircut in SF—plus great conversation / fun banter. There’s usually a cute dog in the shop too, which just makes the experience even better.
