Gorgeous theater! During the holidays the Golden Girls live Christmas episodes are a must see with your girlfriends. The set features props accurate to the show - down to the paintings in the walls. The ladies in drag are hilarious and you can help but sing along to holiday songs in between the scenes. Stay after the show for a photo with Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia.
Beautiful older Theatre but, NO elevator so if you can't climb stairs choose your seats wisely. The 1st floor bars were quite busy so we were quite happy to find a bar on 3rd floor open & available. If you're going to see The Golden Girls Live prepare yourself for Frisky Fun & lots of Xmas singing between scenes!
Shame on them for not having elevators. When you finally make it to the balcony the steps are of varying length and some way too short. 2 people tripped trying to walk down as they are very difficult to maneuver with. The worst part is there are no handrail so you are at your own risk. It is one of the older looking theaters in the city and I thought it would have been dramatically improved but it really has not been over the years. They really should consider using larger seats as these seats appear to be originals or very old and way too small. I saw a play that should have had 90% sold out and it was well below 50%. You cannot blame the show as it is one of the most nominated shows in history so you must blame the experience.
Get there early to enjoy all the architecture and remodels from the last 7 years. Gorgeous old theater with some really nice comfortable, modern amenities. Prices for any snacks or drinks. Prepare to dip into your retirement for that. Gorgeous bathrooms. Very efficient, friendly staff. Small enough theater that most of the seats have fabulous views. Parking paid lots. Only downtown San Francisco. Also near public transit and of course taxi and rideshare. Work very well. Don't come at the last minute you ruined the show for other people because they will seat people unbelievably late into the show which ruins the experience. FYI.
The Curran Theater was built in 1922 and more than a hundred years later…it’s still beaming with pride & beauty!! The second you step inside you feel the electricity and excitement! Seen The Jersey Boys and The Golden Girls lately and the theater hasn’t lost its touch. If anything it’s even more beautiful! Props to the ticketing people…they are as nice as can be! Me and my good friend had the best time ever!!! I cannot recommend this theater more even if I wanted to! 👍🏼👍🏼❤️❤️
