Best little resale show in Texas! Been a customer and consigner for years. My first time in i found glassware that matched the pattern my mother left me. Since then I have bought two different pressed glass lamps that are stunning. Both i rewired and rejuvinated. They carry furniture as well, some are amazing one of a kind. The shop is very well organized, the volunteers are happy and helpful. The best part is they give the profits to so many organizations that help people! I have sold there as well, most sold, and when they don't I know they are forwarded to help others. I am so grateful for this store and its excellent intentions!
The Next to New Shop on Burnet Road in Austin is a treasure trove that’s been delighting us since 2009. This consignment store is packed with thousands of items across dozens of categories—think Persian rugs, furniture, dishes, knick-knacks, and so much more. Walking in feels like stepping into a curated wonderland where every corner holds something unique. Some reviews call it overpriced, but I strongly disagree. There are plenty of fantastic deals to be found, and everything you buy is significantly less than retail. It’s a bargain hunter’s dream with quality to match. What sets Next to New apart isn’t just the inventory—it’s the mission. Run through St. David’s Episcopal Church, the shop channels its proceeds to support non-profits serving Austin and Travis County’s disadvantaged communities. Knowing your purchase helps those in need adds a feel-good layer to every find. We’ve scored stylish furniture and quirky decor over the years helping to furnish our children's apartments and the quality has never let us down. The selection rivals what you’d expect from a high-end consignment shop in Houston’s River Oaks, but the prices here are far more approachable. The store itself is well-organized, making it easy to browse despite the sheer volume of goods. The staff is friendly and helpful, striking that perfect balance between attentive and hands-off. We’ve never left empty-handed or disappointed, whether we’re hunting for a statement piece or just poking around for fun. It’s a place that rewards patience—take your time, and you’ll uncover gems you didn’t know you needed. For anyone in Austin looking for value, variety, and a chance to give back, Next to New is a must-visit. Check it out and see why it’s earned a loyal following over the decades.
This place has quite the selection of used and vintage items. It’s very organized and always getting new inventory. And the pricing system is unique, even though I rarely find decent items down to their discounted prices. But where I was once excited to shop and snag a good find, I now see only overpriced stuff for people who are willing to pay an extreme premium for not having to search for these items themselves at other secondhand stores. Pricing original oil paintings at $200 is one thing and I acknowledge that they certainly do have some cool and rare pieces. But there are ridiculous prices for many other much more common wares. Reminder that at the end of the day, these are still USED items! A one-cup Pyrex measuring cup shouldn’t be $8! A tarnished and dingy set of table knives and spoons should not be $18! I’m not saying you can’t find something cool and worth the money (to you) here. But I’m also disappointed to see high prices that I’d expect at small antique stores here. Don’t expect to get a good deal on anything that’s “common” or un-extraodinary. Go to goodwill for that.
