The wine range is solid, but the 'member points' system needs a complete overhaul. You're promised discounts for logging in by specific dates and placing orders, but the execution falls short. The time-pressure tactics feel more like marketing gimmickry than genuine customer value—and when the points don't reliably work as advertised, it's just frustrating. The constant deadline reminders via SMS and email add unnecessary stress to what should be an enjoyable browsing experience. Until they fix the technical issues with their rewards system and rethink the pressure-based approach, Dan Murphy's remains the simpler option for straightforward wine purchasing. UPDATE - they keep emailing me asking me to pull down the review because they claim they helped me, even though they actually haven't solved the issue. ie Please change the review because we tried to help but didnt. Email from them below: "Multiple members of our team have reviewed the full email and account history. From what we can see, the welcome points were successfully applied to your account. The welcome points are not automatically applied at checkout and need to be manually redeemed. You emailed us asking how to apply the points, and we replied with step-by-step instructions explaining how to do this. This was also reiterated across multiple follow-up emails. In addition, we offered to refund the $20 charged, and noted that you also had $15 remaining from your previous account usage. We understand this experience has been frustrating and we’re sorry it felt overly complicated. However, as the welcome discount was available and instructions were provided, we’d appreciate it if you could reconsider and remove or update the review, as it appears to be based on a misunderstanding of how the welcome points are applied."
Be careful what you order here. I recently purchased a “Red Mixed 12-Bottle Winners Pack” and received only two different wines, with no information provided about whether these were actually award winners. The box contained just two types of bottles: 6 of the same Chardonnay (white) and 6 of the same Shiraz (red). This is very different from what a “mixed red winners pack” suggests. Make sure you read the listing carefully to avoid disappointment. In my case, the advertisement was updated only after my order arrived and they acknowledged the mistake. There was no apology from customer service — although they did offer to replace the white bottles, at this point I’ll simply be ordering elsewhere.
Dodgy stuff. Got a text promoting a “ 15% off sitewide sale”. Got in touch to buy wine, to be told the wine I wanted, whilst available, wasn’t included in the sale and would be the regular price.
Recently I had the pleasure to stay at Montvalley Winery for a weekend. What an amazing place ! John and Deirdre were perfect hosts and even shared the excitement of the Swans game with us in the amazing home theatre. Of course some beautiful wines were shared as well. Thank you to the Wine Collective and the folk at Montvalley for the lovely weekend getaway which I won in a recent wine promotion competition. Mont Valley is certainly worth another visit.
