Vic’s pizza has great quality and an extremely welcoming atmosphere. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a lady with glasses and a warm smile. Not sure of her name, but she was so kind while getting my order. I’ll definitely be back. Best pizza in downtown Raleigh!!
Happened upon this place by chance and was looking for a good pizza. I told the guy I wanted it a little crispy on the crust and no flop. This may not be the best pizza in all of Raleigh because I haven't tried them all but, it is in the discussion. This pizza has a good flavor, just the right amount of sauce with a tiny little sweet bite. The ingredients are fresh, quality and not frozen pre chopped food service items. This is not only good if you happen to be in the downtown area but worth a half hour drive or so just go go try it out.
The Pizza had a crisp crust! A true New York style pizza with friendly service. The cannoli was excellent.
I work very close to this location and was there the day it opened…Ive been to almost all the restaurants and food halls downtown and I’ve been holding off on writing a review for this place in the hope that they were fine tuning their recipes. Well today is the day and honestly the five star reviews are lies. The pizza, which is all I order, is meh at best. Today I got the $15.55 two slice lunch special, one sausage the other pepperoni…the dough is floppy for an thin crust and you can see in the pictures the pizza is premade with the topping tossed on. The sausage taste “chemically” while the pepperoni is nice. I work less than a minute drive down the street, but the pizza is cold by the time I get there. They just warm the slices up to curl the toppings…which is hardly acceptable for the price. Now I know pizza by the slice is premade but for the same price you can get a freshly made Calzone or Stromboli. Don’t call it a special if it’s not. The lunch two slice special is pure robbery and disrespectful to your lunch customers. It’s probably why there are hardly any customers there at lunch time. The people who work in the area have so many good, affordable options to choose from. ..charging $15 for two premade slices is a joke for $1 worth of ingredients and $1 of someone’s time. The cashier is extremely polite, the shop is clean and accessible. High points for presentation, low points for the pizza and affordability. Shame on them for charging an outlandish price for two slices of premade pizza. Offer a suitable deal at lunch for locals and I promise your lunch business will pick up. Look at La Santa for an affordability reference as they have a steady stream of customers at lunch time…and the specials are actually priced as specials. The lunch chimichangas filling and fresh. I’ll give you another example of the pricing…they charge $23 for a bowl of spaghetti, Gravy on Hargett charges $17. The Glenwood markup is not 10000% over ingredient and labor cost. I really think their business plan is to rob you once and not worry about you coming back.
My girlfriend picked this place to go to the other day. The girl working the cash register was super friendly and fun to chat with. We started with the garlic knots, which were fine, probably could have used a little more garlic, but again they were alright. I will say the pizza was just ok, I got the New Yorker pie, again, it was just ok, it was a bit runny with the sauce and not that it was undercooked, but it was definitely really soft, something on the lines of squishy, there was really no crunch to the pizza. This is coming from someone who grew up in New Jersey and New York who knows their pizza. Lastly I got a calzone to go just filled with cheese. This was a redeeming item, it was really good, only gripe was that it had a little less than half the center was filled with the cheese. More than half of the calzone was just the bread. I wouldn’t put this place as a top pick for pizza, just saying.
