Working with Jen over the past few years has been truly life-changing. Her classes and one on ones have empowered me to move with less pain, more freedom, and a greater understanding of my spine. Before Jen, I thought my scoliosis was “no big deal” but had no idea how to get out of the chronic pain patterns I was constantly in. Now, I have so much more knowledge about how to move through everyday activities with new strategies and good body mechanics and can tap into healthy patterns in my work teaching, performing, and massaging. Yes, I still have pain- but I don’t feel stuck. Jen cultivates a fun community of scoliosis folks and is always up for investigating new questions and new approaches for true wellness in motion!
Jen is a magnificent, caring instructor whose Zoom classes are an essential part of successfully managing my scoliosis. Over the year that I've worked with Jen, my mobility, strength, balance, and overall outlook have improved significantly. Since she has scoliosis, she has insight into what it's like to live with asymmetry, and generously shares her knowledge and expertise in improving the quality of her clients' well-being. Jen is a gifted, empathetic teacher who successfully conducts a class for several students--via Zoom--while closely observing our form and respectfully providing corrections/suggestions. Her form tips use imagery that helps you execute the exercises correctly, protecting your spine and/or fusion. You can tell that she truly cares about her clients, as she remembers our curve patterns and tailors feedback for our individual needs. Additionally, Jen provides guidance on how to safely rig up equipment so you don't need to purchase a Swedish ladder. She'll also offer alternate exercises if you're experiencing discomfort. I've always been active and want to continue to remain so into my senior years. Working with Jen will help me realize this goal and avoid surgery! I've been attending her Saturday Pilates classes for over a year and eagerly signed up for her new weekly Strength Training class. Access to her video library has allowed me to practice on a daily basis (shorter and longer videos, that work into busy schedules). I've taken Zoom classes before but Jen's are different. It's like you're with her in Boise. I look forward to her classes, as I always feel relaxed and physically good afterward.
Absolutely work with Jen! I began 3 years ago and have appreciated and loved all of Jen's classes. She not only knows a great deal about our curved and fused spines, she continues to study all he time, bringing new and revised information to share with us in class. She is sensitive to each person's needs in the classroom while she teaches and can point out what each person needs to change or do for their individual problems. While some of the movements might seem easy, over time, they strengthen muscles that you don't realize are so important to our spinal health. I love all Jen's classes and her videos as well. When I first began with Jen, I couldn't lift a bag of groceries or walk more than a half a block. I can now lift 2 very heavy grocery bags, 40 pounds of salt pellets, 30 pounds of bird seed and walk for miles! My back has gone from totally atrophied to muscles that I can control...and I never thought I could! Thank you Jen! Try her out, I think you'll love her work as well!
I highly recommend Jen to anyone with scoliosis! I was having issues with my sacrum, pelvis and lower back before I started seeing her. They have improved immensely, plus I now have remedies if they bother me. I particularly appreciate that Jen has helped me improve my posture and movement patterns and keep my body upright as I age! She takes an individualized, whole-body approach and is able to communicate her incredible knowledge about scoliosis and anatomy in an easy-to-understand way. She is also a lovely person - kind, non-judgemental and positive. I always feel better both physically and emotionally after a session with her!
I have taken back care classes from Jen since 2019, both in-person and virtually. Her yoga class was originally recommended to me by a physical therapist who was helping me with thoracic and lumbar issues. What a godsend! While the classes have been small group, Jen pays special attention to each participant and provides individual instruction to ensure correct and safe form. She also is big on ensuring we understand the anatomy and science behind the movements. My weekly sessions allow me to maintain better health -- my whole body is in much better shape because of Jen's classes!
