We hired A to Z Construction & Design for a full bathroom remodel and honestly couldn’t be happier. From the first walkthrough, they were straightforward and didn’t try to upsell anything we didn’t need. The crew showed up when they said they would, kept the space clean, and always explained what was happening next. The tile work came out really clean and the shower looks better than we imagined. It felt like they actually cared about doing the job right, not just rushing through it!
Kitchen remodels can be stressful, but A to Z Construction & Design made it surprisingly manageable. The crew was polite, respectful of our home, and cleaned up at the end of each day. Any questions we had were answered quickly, and they were upfront about costs and timing. No surprises, no excuses. The final result looks even better than we expected, and everything feels well thought out and solid!
I hired this design-and-build company to assist with a home renovation project, specifically to obtain a permit. From the start, I clearly communicated that I only wanted help with the permit and did not intend to move forward with construction at that stage, since I wanted to continue comparing contractors. During our initial discussions, I was verbally given a quote that included permit-related work along with a 3D design, which is why I decided to proceed. Only after the company completed its work did I learn that the written contract excluded permit submission from the scope. This exclusion was never clearly explained during the project, even though obtaining the permit was the primary reason I engaged them. The overall pace of the project was also slower than expected. Near the end of the engagement, I was informed that they would only proceed with obtaining the permit if I signed with them as my contractor. This requirement had not been disclosed earlier and differed from what I had communicated from the outset. Had this been clarified upfront, I would have made a different decision. Throughout our text message conversations, I repeatedly asked them to move forward with submitting the permit, including requesting that it be done as soon as possible before the 3D rendering was completed. At no point was it communicated that permit submission was not included or that additional conditions applied. The engineering report also took a long time to receive and ultimately was not usable for the permit process. I had to hire a separate designer and structural engineer to redo the work in order to move forward. After receiving the final invoice, I asked for clarification about what I felt were discrepancies between the quoted services and the actual process, but I did not receive a response. Overall, I found the communication unclear and the process lacking transparency. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.
We compared a few contractors before choosing A Z Construction & Design, and I’m glad we went with them. They helped us finalize a design that fit our space and budget and never pressured us. The build went smoothly, and the timeline they gave us was accurate. The finished deck looks beautiful and feels extremely solid. You can tell the craftsmanship is there. Overall, a very positive experience with no headaches!
