To preface my review: we had a extremely negative experience in the R.C. Gorman gallery on the first floor on the left side, so this review is in no way a reflection of the second floor, which we never ended up going to. The RC Gorman gallery is not on google maps, so I’m not sure if Amapola is the name of the building or the second floor only (the website doesn’t say much). We went in and because I had a drink in my hand, the lady at the desk came up and grabbed it from my hand. I completely understood not wanting food around artworks, but I could put my own drink down thanks I’m not a 8 year old. We went around the gallery looking at the art pieces. Maybe the lady assumed we weren’t buying anything but she came up to me while I was looking at an artwork and asked very rudely what I was looking at. She then grabbed my drink and shoved it back into my hands and said bye. It was very rude and unprofessional. I can’t believe someone like that works here, and honestly this gallery looks like it is well within its ability to hire a better person. I would not buy anything here because of the person working here, not because of the art. Like I said before, I have no way of knowing whether Amapola has control over RC Gorman gallery. I’m writing this review to inform others of the horrendous treatments of RC Gorman Gallery. If you’re reading this and wondering about whether you should come or not, just don’t go to the RC Gorman gallery, which is on the first floor to the left. It’s very telling that the only negative reviews for Amapola are for the RC Gorman gallery. If that gallery ends up having its own google map place, please kindly inform me and I look forward to leaving my one star review there and delete this one.
Amapola it's been around for 42 years already. Is a true proof of an awesome Cooperative Gallery; with 40 artist, sharing their talent and helping each other to grow. To me, Old Town's bes! I purchase unique items for myself and always find great gifts to share. I just love to be part! Thank you NM for shopping local.
Super friendly staff, lots of beautiful creations to explore upstairs and on the first floor. Purchased a matted RC Gorman and am very happy with my purchase. Didn’t get to try the coffee since the power was out but the gal there was super friendly and pointed me in the right direction. Glad I wandered in!
Beautiful art work and the cafe downstairs has the best coffee and food! Great views too.
Beautiful working studio with a huge variety of mediums. Had to purchase some fused glass!(shown on white paper to show colors)
