I've been practicing here for a little over 4 years. It's a sacred spot on the 3rd floor of a jewelers row walk up in center city Philadelphia. Elizabeth is a stellar teacher! Gentle, disciplined, intuitive, caring, very knowledgeable about the mechanics of the human body...she leads by example and is an incredibly authentic teacher. I've been taught at a pace that has allowed me to embed asana practice into my life routine. The community here is supportive and respectful- there is no sense of competition, no gossip, no favorites. There is a special reverence to this shala. One that is created by humility and a recognition that progress is an ongoing process.

I have been practicing at AYS since 2022 and recommend it to people who have never done yoga, and also people who are looking to deepen their relationship with yoga. I've had a Mysore-style Ashtanga practice since 2016 and a number of excellent teachers. Elizabeth (the AYS studio owner) has helped me build my own knowledge and understanding about yoga, and also myself. Under her guidance, I've been able to create a consistent and sustainable practice that works with whatever limitations or restrictions I may have on a given day, or in a season for that matter. I'm approaching old poses in different ways, while also learning new ones. Elizabeth has also taught me a lot about pranayama, something that I study as a researcher but don't often get to learn about at yoga studios. I've been grateful for her expertise, and also the space to practice pranayama, which again, doesn't often get much space if any at all in other spaces I've practiced in. AYS is also a beautiful practice space, very convenient to public transportation. And is a wonderful, welcoming community here. Highly recommend!

This studio is a rare gem. The space has a warm, inviting energy and the people here are lovely. I instantly feel the serenity of this place when walk in each morning. There’s a gentle scent of sandalwood incense, old creaking wooden floors, and beautiful yogic art on the walls. Elizabeth is a highly trained ashtanga teacher rooted in deep yogic and meditation philosophies. She inspires a meditative quality in us as we move through our practice. Elizabeth curates a practice for everyone’s different bodies and helps you navigate through the challenging parts of our bodies. She watches us all closely and makes individual adjustments to help us open a bit more each day. She and is one of those rare teachers who makes you feel safe and deeply challenged in the same breath. Yoga is an intense journey into the self, and Elizabeth provides the empathy and stability needed to do so. This is a studio where you can lay deep roots for a lifelong practice. The community here is special too—there are all different ages and experience level of yogis here and you can feel a real support system between us all. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced practitioner, this is a truly a 3rd home.

I’ve been practicing here for 10-12 years. It’s the best Mysore program in the area. The teacher Elizabeth Crozier is a skilled teacher with at least 10 years experience & she’s devoted to the practice. She teaches each student individually paying attention to each students abilities. Her knowledge is outstanding. All levels are welcome plus it’s a great community
