Another disappointing Italian experience in Denver, after numerous people hyped this place up. I will say I prefer southern Italian, but even so, the dishes didn’t deliver. The veal agnolotti was pretty sparse on veal and was basically just a vessel for butter and cheese - which normally I’d say is delicious, but not in this case. The porcetta pasta dish I got was okay, but had a little bit of a bitter taste to it. The octopus was fine, but a bit chewy. The veal carpaccio, which we were warned was very basically seasoned, wasn’t very exciting. They did offer a truffle add on, but for $35 on that small of a dish, didn’t seem worth it. Italian wine offering was very good and the bartender who served at the bar counter was great. Also appreciated the restaurant has sound dampening panels which contributed to a nice atmosphere. Really wanted to love this place, hopefully I’ll have a chance to try it again and do some different dishes. But what we had wasn’t worth the higher price point and was disappointing after hearing such great things. Sounds like many people love it, so you might too!
Literally one of the best restaurants I’ve been to! The service is outstanding, starting the second you walk through the door. Our server, Melanie, was genuinely enthusiastic about us enjoying our evening and shared her stories with us about her travels to Italy, which the entire restaurant team does annually to learn about Italian cuisine. There were 3 of us eating dinner so we all ordered something different, which allowed us to try almost everything on the menu. Every item was truly spectacular and the wine pairings were perfect. I highly recommend! The items pictured are the focaccia, arugula salad, amberjack, mushroom tortellini, spinach spaghetti, gnocchi, steak, pork tenderloin, salmon, cheesecake and carrot cake.
Sat at the bar, and the lovely Nicole took care of me. Started with the Presto Negroni (that rosemary focaccia is 🤤🤤), then had the beet carpacio, and the tagliatelle. I had just enough room for the sage gelato with the raisin puree.
Wonderful, romantic, slow-paced evening during truffle season. We had multiple selections for our 4 course tasting menu ($95) and a choice of white or black truffles shaved tableside. It was our anniversary so we were treated to espresso liqueur and decadent dark chocolate bon bons. Excellent polpa alla spagno (crispy octopus), risotto ai fungi with added truffles, bistecca di manzo (very tender meat), and the torta di formaggio (cheesecake with honey truffle drizzle). Highly recommend for a special occasion, make reservations!
An unforgettable Northern Italian experience! "Phenomenal" is truly the perfect word for the amazing dining experience at Barolo Grill. From the moment you walk through the door, the hosts and service staff offer unparalleled hospitality. The restaurant feels both sophisticated and welcoming, making it the ideal spot for a special occasion or simply a spectacular evening. The food is nothing short of delectable, celebrating the rich flavors of Northern Italian cuisine. While the menu changes with the seasons, you can expect expertly crafted dishes, from delicate pasta creations like the signature Agnolotti dal Plin to the rich, flavor-balanced braised duck. Each plate is a work of art, a symphony of flavor and texture that proves why this Denver icon has been celebrated for decades. But you must save room for dessert, because the cheesecake is truly to die for. This silky, decadent torta di formaggio is drizzled with lavender honey and toasted hazelnuts, creating a subtle yet complex flavor profile that provides the perfect, elevated finish to the meal. The service is what elevates the experience beyond just a meal. The staff is knowledgeable, passionate, and attentive, ensuring every aspect of your dinner is seamless. It's a testament to the restaurant's quality that the entire staff participates in an annual trip to Italy to deepen their understanding of the food and culture, and that passion is evident in their every interaction. Barolo Grill is well worth the price for a truly special night out.
