Got a great haircut from Itzel, I love it. I have long blond heavy hair and she did an awesome job blending the layering — a lot of point cuts! I had an idea what I wanted for the back, and she gave me advice for the front and how to make it all work together. Thanks!
BIBO is by far my favorite salon! It has such a warm, friendly and fun vibe, with tea and champagne. Susie Geda, the owner, is the best hair stylist and colorist I’ve ever had! I’ve seen her for 10+ years! My entire family comes to Susie! It’s a great all around experience! Can’t recommend it enough!
The salon was beautiful, the woman I spoke with was incredibly helpful and kind when I booked this appointment but my experience was subpar. I DO NOT go to salons to get my haircut. It’s just not worth it for me. After cancer, my hair was brittle and fine and thin and I told the receptionist that I was looking for just a simple hairdo for my 20 year high school reunion. She told me Ivan would be wonderful, he was kind and would make sure my experience was fantastic for my first salon experience. We discussed what service and put me down for a $60 styling with him and I was excited. I showed 4 minutes late which I communicated to the receptionist and him beforehand and day of. I was getting my makeup done in SF and would be rushing there afterwards. No problem. I washed my hair prior per the receptionist so that I could save a few dollars. I told her a simple styling, some curls, etc. Ivan tells me that I could use a 1” trim with shorter layers so that my hair has movement, I agreed, he spent 4-8 minutes putting some quick layers in, (running around looking for everything?!) then proceeds to blow dry and add a few curls with a curling iron and shellac it in place with some product. I was there a total of 27 minutes and it cost me $120!? He said it was $95 for JUST the haircut!?! If I had known to trim an inch off was going to be an additional $100 I would have NEVER agreed. I had very limited funds and explained this to the receptionist at length. I just wanted to feel beautiful for the first time since my remission and by the time I got to my event my hair had fallen flat and fizzy and just wasn’t worth. I ended up just putting my hair up in a ponytail
My hair came out great, though it was expensive; however, I won’t be returning because I experienced micro-aggressions as a woman of color for the duration of the appointment. Offhanded comments were made by several employees about my hair, and I was passive aggressively asked to book a long hair appointment slot (and charged for one) instead of medium though my hair came to just under my chin and was a first-time client that didn’t realize any natural haircut/styling should be booked under long hair.. It is clear that the default clientele of this salon are not women of color despite this salon being located in the heart of downtown Oakland. Very disappointing as the quality of the styling didn’t overcome the rudeness, and my stylist asking others to come help comb bits of my hair like it was too much for her. Unfortunate because the location is great and potential is there!
I got a haircut and blowout with Danielle and she is absolutely amazing! She took the time to listen to me and really understand what I wanted. I’m not a fan of short hair and she totally respected that, which I really appreciated. I’m so happy with the result! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the whole service and experience was a 10/10. I’ll definitely be coming back!
