Extremely responsive staff and helpful. I wanted to buy a book that was out of stock and the staff ordered specifically for me to collect. Excellent communication and such great titles available. Will return for sure
I really wanted to like this shop, as I enjoy supporting independent bookshops and the space itself is lovely. However, I found the selection and presentation of books to be very heavily focused around one particular far left political and social viewpoint. From the moment you walk in, there’s a strong emphasis on topics such as activism, colonial history, identity politics and similar themes. That’s absolutely fine as part of a wider mix , but here it felt like the overwhelming majority of displays and recommendations were based around this far left wing viewpoint rather than offering a broad balance of different ideas and viewpoints. Even when browsing fiction, it sometimes felt like books were being promoted more for their ideology than simply because they were great reads. Personally, I prefer a bookshop where a range of opinions and themes sit next to each other, and where it feels a bit more varied and neutral. Here they are pushing you to read from certain views. They clearly have passion and effort, and other people may enjoy the approach. But for me, it felt a bit too much like being pushed in one direction, rather than discovering a wide range of books. So while I value independent shops greatly, I don’t think this one is the right fit for me and on this occasion I’ll get my books online.
Friendly staff and a well cultivated and interesting selection of books, especially those that they put on promo displays. The environment is comfortable and quiet.
I was invited to a book launch at bookhaus by a friend, i've never been to this bookshop before and was very imprssed.They have an amazing selection of books to choose from. The staff were really friendly, i would recommend going to have a browse.😊
