Not normally the type to review things online, but Russ really deserves some love here! Took my Korg SQ-64 in after an incident where it got corrosive liquid inside the housing, and it desperately needed the circuit board cleaned in order to save the thing. Russ was great to chat with and joke around with, and had amazing turnaround time. I dropped the Sequencer off on a Friday afternoon and by Saturday afternoon it was ready to go and worked perfectly. Mind you the business is closed on Saturday/Sunday so he went out of his way to get the time sensitive fix done. All the while cracking jokes and giving out great advice on some DIY repair techniques and knowledge. Hands down a great experience and I recommend any musician who needs a repair to take him into consideration. 10/10.

Russ fixed an issue with my Boss Loop station years ago and it's worked perfectly ever since. When my Nord Stage 2 keyboard's rotary encoders failed, he was the first person I called. He explained he no longer works on Nords but graciously gave me some other contacts to try- after many phone calls and e-mails it turns out the only option was to mail it off to a service center who couldn't guarantee they could fix it! After a year or so I called Russ again and explained my situation- he then offered to take the keyboard and try to find and install some new encoders- which he did! I just picked it up today and am thrilled that I didn't have to mail it away. I really appreciate Russ' willingness to work on my Nord- I'm a professional musician and he is the only guy I trust to work on my prized Nord keyboard. He is a unique personality but shoots you straight- I absolutely recommend him!

They fixed my relatively new Marshall amp that had volume output issues. The problem was fixed and they also fixed another known defect from the manufacturer. Overall I was very pleased with the quality of the repair.

Bull City Sound in Durham is the real deal. We’ve brought him everything from Paul’s Roland keyboard amp to Brandon’s pair of Fender Hot Rod Deluxe guitar amps, and he’s nailed it every time. Prices are fair, turnaround is faster than promised, and the gear always comes back sounding dialed-in and stage-ready. Yeah, some folks complain about his bedside manner — but come on, not every master tech needs to serve up small talk with your solder. If you need a chatty front desk, hit a coffee shop. If you want your amp fixed right, fast, and for a fair price, Bull City Sound is where the pros go. Five stars, no question.

5 stars for being human and unashamed of how they do business. Takes guts. But then again, no idea where else you can go these days for a service like this. It felt a little like the "soup nazi" version of electronics repair. 1 star for lack of responsiveness and communication throughout the process. 1 star for this experience... I was called and told my device was ready for pickup. The gentleman communicated/confirmed their hours: 9-1 and 2-5, M-F. Cool, thanks. I arrived at 9am. No one there. I called, no answer. 9:58am arrives (I decided I had to just wait it out since I drove 40 minutes 1 way to pick up my item - I figured they would open at some point) and someone finally shows up. I said, "I was told you open at 9." The reply was as honest and dumbfounding as it could have been (just like the feel of the whole experience), "Well, we do open at 9... unless we open at 10." There was something else going on with another customer who had arrived almost at the same time the associate appeared from the back yard of the house(?). Not mine to review, but I sure hope he got his stuff worked out. At least I walked away with something that was fixed. I debated whether or not to do a one star or two star rating, but 3 stars seems to be the most respectful given that my device was fixed, eventually.
