Review: Butchers Prime – A Must-Visit for Meat Lovers in Docklands Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5 Stars) If you are in the Docklands and looking for high-quality Australian red meat, I highly recommend checking out Butchers Prime. I’ve visited a few times now, and the food has been consistently excellent. The Food The "Meat Platter for One" is a standout—I’ve had it a couple of times and it never disappoints. It offers a great mixture of beef and lamb, and the chicken or pork sausage included is a nice touch. The peppercorn gravy is delicious, and it comes with a fresh, well-balanced side salad and large chips. They offer various other platters as well, but this one is a personal favorite. If you aren't in the mood for steak, the salmon fillet is another fantastic main meal option that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. Drinks & Atmosphere They have a solid selection of wines and beers. I tried the house Shiraz, which was a very smooth and decent red—perfectly paired with the meal. The atmosphere is versatile; there is comfortable indoor seating as well as an undercover outdoor area equipped with heating, making it a great spot regardless of the weather. Service & Accessibility The staff are always friendly, willing to help, and provide great service. It’s a perfect venue for a quick feed or for larger groups. Pro Tip: On weekdays, I’ve found it easy to just walk in and grab a table without a booking. However, for weekends or during major events in the Docklands, I definitely suggest booking ahead to secure a spot. Dress = smart casual Well done to the team for maintaining such consistent quality. It’s a solid 4-star experience and a go-to for anyone who appreciates a good steak!
This is a must-visit steakhouse in the Melbourne city area. They offer a great selection of premium steak cuts at very reasonable prices, and the service is attentive and professional. The steak was perfectly basted and cooked exactly right juicy, flavourful, and done to perfection. An excellent dining experience overall, and I’ll definitely be back.
The food is high-quality, and the waterfront views make it a perfect spot for any occasion. What I Enjoyed: Mocktail — Sour Apple Mash: I tried this mocktail and it was excellent! It was crisp, refreshing, and the perfect non-alcoholic drink to start the meal. Starter — Garlic Prawns were juicy and seasoned perfectly. A very delicious appetizer. Main — Rib Eye. The smell of the steak was amazing and very appetizing. The taste and texture were just fine, though the other dishes stood out more. Main — The Bushman’s Shank: This is a slow-cooked beef shank that was incredibly soft. The meat fell right off the bone, and the rich sauce was savory and delicious. The Experience: The atmosphere is modern and cozy, and the staff are very welcoming. It is a great place to relax by the water.
Very busy & popular steak restaurant in Docklands. We were there for New Year's Eve dinner and the place was running very smoothly for such a hectic time of year. Glad we booked in advance as there was a queue to be seated. Wait staff were friendly & very efficient. Entrees of Lamb Ribs and Scallops were so delicious! Our steaks were cooked exactly how we ordered them - probably one of the best steak meals I've had (and it's not often I finish a 300g scotch fillet!). The accompanying mashed potato was fluffy & buttery. Cocktails were innovative and delicious, also a good beverages list. Highly recommended.
I visited this restaurant twice, and both times the experience was consistently impressive. The service is one of the highlights, staff are friendly, attentive, and make sure everything runs smoothly without ever overstepping. On my first visit I had the rib eye, and on the second I tried the Wagyu scotch. Both were cooked with real precision. The rib eye was tender, juicy, and full of flavour, while the Wagyu scotch was exceptionally rich, perfectly cooked, and easily one of the best steaks I’ve had in Melbourne. It’s clear the kitchen puts a lot of care into the quality of the meat and how it’s prepared. Combined with the reliable, professional service, it makes for a consistently enjoyable dining experience. If you’re a steak lover, this place should definitely be on your list. Five stars.
