Le Café La Maison Smith Des Jardins est un café charmant situé dans le quartier historique de la Place-Royale à Québec, fondé en 1608. Cet établissement offre une atmosphère chaleureuse aussi bien pour les touristes que pour les habitants, avec une sélection de cafés artisanaux, de grands mochaccinos, de chocolat chaud et de pâtisseries fraîchement préparées, comme des croissants, des sandwichs et des gâteaux aux fruits rouges. Si certains avis soulignent des incohérences dans la température et la qualité des plats, beaucoup louent les croissants savoureux, la tarte au citron délicieuse et le personnel bilingue et sympathique. We used to love the hot chocolate here, it was really good, and the service used to be amazing. Now, the quality has dropped a lot, and the service is just okay. It’s really disappointing because this used to be the best place for hot chocolate, and I don’t understand why the quality has gone downhill.
My wife and I stopped in here to grab a quick breakfast before heading back to the U.S. Biggest croissant I have ever had and it had good flavor. Also had a slice of some berry topped cake which was very sweet and definitely worth it. Would definitely come back if we visit again.
Ordered 2 hot cocos and a lemon pie Lemon pie was tasty, but the hot cocos were room temperature and mostly foam, and tasted terrible. Had to change mine for a coffee. Also waited 15 minutes for the hot cocos + 15 minutes for the bathroom. Staff were friendly Also 5,50 for a small hot cocos is quite pricey
Lovely place, good coffee but a surprisingly poor croissant! I ordered a coffee and sandwich initially and was impressed so decided to have a croissant as I was still hungry, sadly something that should have been the baseline of a good cafe was very bready. Stick to the sandwiches and coffee
The sun is rising and there are a sprinkling of us tourists roaming around Quebec City ahead of the crowds. This was the first cafe I saw opened this early so I popped in. I had the Croissant Smith and a grand mochaccino. The staffer was bi-lingual so I asked in English if she could warm up the sandwich. Obvi something was lost in translation as the top of the croissant was barely warm to the touch with the ham and cheese still chilled. Oh well, it's food and it's edible. I sat outdoors to feel the sunrise to watch others walk through this historic part of Old Quebec known as Place Royale. The area was founded in 1608 and has a wonderful mix of buildings and stone street with French and British influences. What a lovely start to the day.
