I dropped off my PC at Calgary Smart Fix on November 21st because it wasn’t fully powering on. I suspected it might be a motherboard issue, and when I dropped off the computer, I specifically asked how long it would take for them to diagnose it. I was told I would hear back “in a day or two.” Instead, it took three full business days before they contacted me. When they finally called me, I was told the motherboard was indeed dead, and replacing it would cost $300 for the part plus $90 for labor. The technician also suggested the repair wasn’t “worth it,” but offered no alternatives, no parts options, no suggestions, and no real advice beyond essentially discouraging me from getting it repaired. Despite that, I told them I wanted to move forward and approved the repair. When I followed up the next week to see how things were progressing, I learned that they didn’t even order the motherboard until that Saturday; at least a few days after I had approved the repair. They told me the part would take about a week to get in. Then, the very next day, I received another call saying they had spoken to the supplier and the motherboard was now “on backorder,” and it wouldn’t arrive until the end of the month. The technician again stated the repair wasn’t worth doing, and told me I should just come pick up my PC. This was a full 11 days after I had first dropped the computer off, and aside from being told the motherboard was dead, I was still no closer to having my machine fixed. At that point, I picked up my computer and opened up the case myself. Within minutes of doing my own research, I found a newer, compatible motherboard on Amazon that I could purchase for less money, with faster shipping, from a reputable brand. In other words, what they claimed would take weeks to obtain (at a questionable price) was literally available to me within minutes of me searching online. To make things worse, when I picked up the PC, I asked if they could at least tell me the specific model of the existing motherboard. The employee said the technician “didn’t write it down,” didn’t tell anyone else, and wasn’t in at the moment — but that he’d call me back and let me know (he never did call me back later). Overall, my experience with this repair shop was incredibly disappointing. The lack of communication, the delayed diagnosis, the slow ordering, the changing timelines, the dismissive attitude, and the fact that I, as the customer, was easily able to find a better solution faster and cheaper — all of it left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I expected a repair shop to be transparent, competent, resourceful, communicative, and frankly make my life easier instead of making it more difficult. Instead, I felt misled, dismissed, and left waiting for no good reason. I definitely won’t be going back to this repair shop at any point in the future.

Brought in a PS5 that would not stay powered on for more than a few seconds. They had it diagnosed and fixed within a few days, and it works flawless. The price was super agreeable for how quickly they got it done. 10/10, would absolutely recommend them for electronic repairs.

Took my 3ds here to repair the upper lcd. Only place I could find with a reasonable price and who would help me! Did an amazing job repairing it and took a fair amount of time for a 3ds. Would definitely recommend! Thank you for all your help!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Before coming to this shop, I went to another place that told me I needed to replace my laptop battery, which was very expensive. When I came here, they checked my laptop thoroughly and discovered that the problem wasn’t the battery at all—it was just a connector issue. They confirmed that my battery is still in good condition, so I didn’t need to replace it. I really appreciate that they didn’t just try to make a sale but instead gave me an honest diagnosis. I ended up paying much less and got to keep my original battery. This shop is trustworthy, professional, and fair. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I highly recommend them!
