They were responsive in updating me on an online order and delivered as promised. The people that I spoke with were friendly and helpful. I would buy from them again.
I purchased a camera from this company online, and the item was never delivered. The process of obtaining a refund was unnecessarily long and difficult. There are no reliable or effective points of contact to reach the company, which made resolving the issue even more frustrating. This experience reflects poor management and a lack of accountability. I would not recommend ordering from this company and strongly advise purchasing a camera through a more reputable retailer.
Sent the lens with the wrong mount. Communication regarding return was initially non-existent. Opened a claim with CC company; when Camera West finally responded, they claimed the refund could not be issued because of the open claim. Contacted CC company, closed claim. After three days, still waiting, requested refund again, advised refund had been "rejected" due to open claim. Spoke with CC company, claim was closed, and they reported they do not reject refunds. Communication is poor, they do not refund tax, and charge a restock fee even when the error was theirs. I would be wary of purchasing anything online with this company. Still waiting for that refund, confidence is very low that I will ever see that money. As you can see from this scenario, dealing with them has been like playing "whack a mole." If the refund comes, and depending on when it finally arrives, I will update this review. Until then, buyers beware!!!!
The staff at Camera West are first rate. I had previously gotten my sensor cleaned at DIFFERENT store and found the sensor was more dirty returned than when I dropped it off. At Camera West, Norman's exacting standards and care left my sensor spotless! The staff is general is helpful and very experienced. I am looking forward to future visits when they open their SF location next year.
I came into Camera West knowing absolutely nothing about cameras, and Norman went above and beyond to help me. He was incredibly patient as he walked me through the lenses I had brought in (they were gifted to me, so I had no idea what I was looking at). He not only explained what they were, but also showed me a range of compatible camera bodies and gave me a crash course in how everything works together. What really stood out was how kind, approachable, and clear he was in his explanations. I never felt rushed or overwhelmed. I left not only more confident, but actually excited about getting into photography. If you’re looking for help, whether you’re experienced or just starting out, Camera West is exactly the place you want to go. Everyone there was also very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!
