I had high hopes for Carnivore as it was highly recommended by some locals we met. Since our trip to Buenos Aires last year we’ve been craving for great Argentinian style steak. My biggest issue with Carnivore is value which I personally equate as total experience = price+flavor+service. I felt I didn’t get the value for what I paid for. First of all, $16 for 2 measles slices of focaccia and $8 for 1/4 cup of steak sauce. Again the cost is not the issue, it’s the quantity. The salad was good but nothing outstanding. The 750g ribeye steak (it was not clearly stated that it was bone-in) was tender but lacked a meaty flavor and even though it was grilled over firewood it lacked the smokiness that usually is typical of an Argentinian steak. And at $120 it fell flat. I really wanted to like this place since it sour first steak visiting Australia but sadly it left me longing. And we’ve noticed that same overpriced food lacking adequate flavors at several restaurants in Adelaide unlike food we ate at Central Market or even restaurants we ate in Sydney.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolute perfection. Best meal we’ve had in Australia. Carnivore in Adelaide is not just a restaurant, it is an experience. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family. The owners are incredible. Warm, passionate, and genuinely invested in every guest having an unforgettable night. You can feel their heart in this place. The atmosphere is intimate, stylish, and buzzing with energy without being loud or pretentious. It feels special, like you’ve discovered a hidden gem locals hope tourists never find. And then there is the food. I can confidently say this was the best meal we’ve had in Australia. What makes it even more extraordinary is that the head chef is the owner’s wife. Her talent is next level. Every dish was flawless. Perfectly cooked, beautifully balanced, and clearly made by someone who truly loves what she does. This is not just cooking. This is artistry on a plate. Every course impressed us, but the real showstopper was dessert. The Burnt Sugar Citron Tart may be the best dessert I’ve ever had in my life. And I do not say that lightly. It was the perfect balance of sweet, citrus, and caramelized richness. One bite and we were silent at the table because it was that good. It may honestly be my new favorite dessert on the planet. Carnivore is the kind of place you plan your trip around next time just to come back. If you are in Adelaide and do not eat here, you are truly missing out. This is five-star dining with heart and soul behind it. We will be talking about this meal for a very long time!
I’ve been here a couple times now and both times nothing ever disappointed!! Service was next level, you can tell that the staff genuinely care about good service. Food and drinks came out super fast for a busy Saturday night and might I say that the steak was to die for, the type of food that makes your eyes go wide when you take the first bite. Entrees were equally amazing, highly recommend the arancini. Had a nice chat with the owner on the way out as well and he is just as lovely as the rest of the staff. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone and everyone I come across. Will definitely be back for more 😋
From the moment we arrived at Carnivore we were made to feel so welcome. All staff were amazing. The food was superb and definitely the best steak I have ever had at a restaurant. The duck fat potatoes were perfection. Can’t go past the Amaretto Sour - just wanted more. The decor and atmosphere added to the experience. Highly recommend Carnivore. I look forward to my next visit
We chose Carnivore Adelaide to celebrate our wedding anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place. Even though the restaurant was fully booked for the night, everything felt calm, welcoming, and perfectly run. Robbie, the owner, personally greeted us and took the time to share a little of his story, which made the experience feel incredibly special and personal. The whole family loved the variety of steaks, along with the fresh salads and the absolutely delicious duck fat potatoes — all cooked to perfection. Our kids were especially entertained watching the chef cook the steaks over the open fire behind the glass, who even took the time to acknowledge them with a friendly smile, which they loved. Despite how busy it was, the service remained professional, attentive, and genuinely warm — we felt very well looked after from start to finish. A memorable evening and a restaurant we’ll happily return to and highly recommend.
