Singing songs and playing bingo was very fun. The sisters were both very nice and entertaining. The bingo prizes left a little more to be desired. And the drink was either instant hot chocolate or instant cider with half a shot in them if you desired. Also the bingo and sing-along ended about a half hour early From what was advertised. Overall, the sisters made the experience fun and it was cool to be in the historic hotel. And was a fun girls day activity.

We were innocently staying at the Celeste Hotel when who should emerge from the dim recesses of history but Sister Celeste! She set our unruly group straight right away. That’s because we couldn’t help but notice the ruler prominently displayed in the belt of her habit. After we promised to behave, she marched us out to the street for our private gangster tour. Passersby crossed themselves at the sight of us. Oddly for a holy woman, Sister was intimately familiar with the seamy side of St Paul. She knew all about the most unsavory characters and showed us their haunts. She told us how they got away with their sinful behavior. Hint: it’s because the cops were on the take. After our edification was complete, we repaired to the hotel for a complimentary drink. She gave us a quiz. I only got 3 out of 5 questions right. Despite my dismal performance I was rewarded with a glow-in-the-dark rosary. I shall keep it forever. Actually Sister Celeste is a trained actor who thoroughly researched the history and wrote her own script. She is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject matter and talented in its delivery. Next time we are in St Paul we are going to take her Gilded Age tour. I can’t wait!

Sister Celeste was an excellent tour guide! She has wonderful historic facts and weaves a wonderful story that gives a true sense of how the “Hill” district got started. Would absolutely walk every one of her tours! Thank you!

Sister Celeste gave us a fun and factual tour of the Summit Hill area. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the tour, including her campy character’s deep knowledge of the era and area.m. Next time we’re in town we will definitely take another one of her tours.. She was also very accommodating around communication and scheduling.
