Love the variety of items. You can't find these anywhere else. When I go to SA I make it a point to check the latest sales and whatever the new promotions are. But I do go for a few staples (for me). The olives, sweet heat pickles, love dip, dried nectarines and a few others. I picked up a very nice wine for a gift with the help of their sommelier.
I ordered catering for an English Tea Baby Shower in San Antonio this weekend. We ordered a good amount of food & everything we ordered was delicious, and plated perfectly! It was amazing! It was delivered to the Gunter Hotel right on time for a very nominal fee! Macrina who took my order over the phone was excellent & so very nice! It could not have gone more smoothly, and the food was excellent! Thank you so very much!
My favorite spot for a quick lunch was Central Market. The additional charge for adding avocado to my turkey sandwich was well worth it. Until recently. I had a pathetic smudge of what they claimed was avocado. It looked old and the quantity felt like a mockery. I’m adding photos to support my low review. It has happened TWICE. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the two visits ago, but this last visit was just as bad as the last.
I had heard glowing reviews about Central Market and was genuinely excited to experience it for myself. On my day off today at 8AM I drove 20 miles with high hopes, anticipating a standout grocery experience that matched its upscale reputation. To be fair, the food quality and selection were impressive. The produce was fresh, and the variety throughout the store—from specialty items to bakery offerings—was clearly curated with care. However, the customer service fell disappointingly short. From the moment I entered, not a single associate greeted me or offered a smile. When I asked questions in the produce section, the staff seemed disinterested and unfriendly. At the bakery, I stood waiting while the associate behind the counter failed to acknowledge me until I made it unavoidably clear I needed help. Checkout was no better—no greeting, no thank you, just a silent scan of my items. For a store with premium pricing and a reputation for excellence, I expected a level of hospitality that matched the product quality. Unfortunately, the lack of warmth and attentiveness from the staff made the experience feel transactional and cold. I left wondering what all the hype was about. I will not be going back.
This was our first time at the central market. Talking about an amazing amount of cool foods and so many specialty items. We were overwhelmed, but it was the most amazing way. Well worth the trip . Great selection of fruits, vegetables, as well as coffee pastries, fresh tortillas, and fresh bread. We'll definitely be going back.
