I had a great time as a beginner. I attended an introductory session yesterday and felt confident and excited to do some extra climbing after. I attended with a friend, and they also had a great time. Good atmosphere and fun climbing routes. If you are considering trying bouldering for the first time in London, or want to try a new climbing gym, I highly recommend. I may try the other climbing district venues in the future.

I used to love going to The Arch. The centre is huge, and there used to be so many bouldering problems that both me and my partner (who climbs higher grades than I do) could enjoy together. Since the recent ownership changes though, I’ve been quite disappointed with the route setting. There seem to be far fewer problems on the walls now. A large section is dedicated to the new off-piste wall, which I welcome, but it’s not at all beginner friendly. It’s not that the space is lacking, the centre is massive. But there are so many blank sections or walls with only one problem where there used to be several. The off-piste area in particular feels especially empty. With all that unused space, the number of routes could easily double and there would still be plenty of room left. Even the circuits and traverse areas have fewer routes now. You can see people crowding around the two walls that still have lots of problems, while the main off-piste area stays mostly empty. It just feels like the space isn’t being used to its full potential anymore. The new setting style seems to be shifting towards advanced climbers, and maybe I’m just not the target customer these days. It's a real shame, because this used to be such a welcoming place for all levels. We’ll probably visit less often now, since there just isn’t as much we can climb on a regular basis.

Serves well both beginners (myself) & experts. Well equipped gym, decent coffee, friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of waterpoints, and more than one toilet. Lockers for storage available too. The regular climbers there form a very supportive and kind community too, very happy to share insight and tips with strangers. Will be sure to come back whenever I visit London.

Great staff, very helpful and friendly. Great selection of bouldering, with lots of challenges and accomplishments. There was a rope swing to start the traverse which was super fun!! We spent some time in the gym before to warm up and after to do some weights and cool down. They recommended us to try the Baguette King around the corner for food, which we did and omg it did not disappoint!

As mentioned below, they've just merged with Stronghold. This means members still need to scan a QR code, watch a video (or skip) - as if new to the Centre - which I was so no problem. Might be good for established members to be made aware before they arrive as they might find the process clunky/annoying. You then have to verify your email before it appears on their system so they can book you in. Shoe hire £4 Children under 9 must now be supervised by a non-climbing adult. If you want to climb with your 7-9 year old you will have to bring another adult prepared not to climb. I enjoyed supervising my grandson, being able to video him climbing alongside his dad, so not a problem for us. I will bring small padlocks next time as the lockers don't work without them and I had a work laptop with me. I loved seeing my grandson using gym equipment alongside other adults, but it did take all my attention to keep him safe and not annoy them! Also a bit worried about a link to chalk dust sent by my son later. (An earlier reviewer said they didn't see many brushes). My grandson found and used at least four different brushes - grazing his knuckle - ouch - when for some reason he decided to brush the wall! 😧
