Taking my kids to Cookie Cutters for their very first real haircut felt like escorting tiny royalty into their coronation ceremony — except instead of crowns, they were getting fresh fades. From the moment we walked in, the place felt less like a barbershop and more like a kid-powered wonderland. Each station had its own TV glowing like a lighthouse of distraction, guiding nervous little sailors safely through the choppy waters of “stranger with scissors.” The screens worked like magic — my kids were locked in, calm and quiet, as if the remote control had a “peaceful mode” button just for parents. And the chairs? Not chairs — chariots. One of my kids claimed a pink car like it was a parade float on Main Street, while the other climbed into the Batmobile as if Gotham personally requested a trim before patrol. Watching them sit there, steering imaginary wheels while capes of barber cloth fluttered around them, was pure cinematic parenting gold. The stylists handled them with the patience of saints and the precision of artists restoring a masterpiece. Snip by snip, their hair transformed from “adorable chaos” to “picture-day perfection.” When it was all done, their hair looked sharp, clean, and polished — like someone hit the reset button on their whole vibe. And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, they sealed the deal with lollipops — the universal trophy of childhood bravery. Overall positive first haircut experience for our 2 year old. Our stylist was kind and patient with her. She had many tricks up her sleeve to get a toddler to do what was needed. Would come back again! She was very excited to sit in the car and get a balloon after!
We took our 2 year old for his first cut and Sarah was AMAZING. He has sensory processing issues and we were nervous how he would handle it, but she took her time with him and pulled out all the stops to make it a good experience. We drove almost an hour to make the appointment and will definitely do it again.
We brought our 19 month old for his 1st haircut (and our 1st kid cut) and we all loved it! He normally fights us to fix his hair at home so we were prepared for a meltdown but they do such a good job with distracting the kids and making them comfortable. He didn’t fuss AT ALL. All the stations have cars for the kids to sit in and a tv to play something for them. We were only there for maybe 45 minutes give or take, but in that time all the employees were pleasant and the kids/parents coming in were happy to be there. It’s a huge relief to know there is a good place to take our son for future cuts.
Nancy was amazing! So patient and calm with my 19 month old who was NOT having it for his first haircut. I would HIGHLY recommend her! She’s awesome and the haircut was so cute.
