Learning from Jay over the past four years has honestly been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. When I first started, I only knew the absolute basics. I started learning bass with Jay about three months ago, and I can’t believe how much I’ve learned already. The way Jay breaks everything down into small, bite-sized pieces makes it super easy and fun to learn an instrument. He’s really passionate about what he does, and has answers to every musical question I ask. Jay has a wealth of technical knowledge and gives great practise tips that has seen huge improvements in my playing since starting lessons. I particularly like that he tailors the lessons using songs that I love and teaches the styles that I want to learn, which makes the lessons super fun and encouraging. I have been wanting to learn more in improvisation, and I enjoy the way he is able to cater the lessons to understand how to make my own basslines. Jay also really inspires me to think big. I’ve been nervous to start a band on my own, but Jay has been encouraging and makes this seem possible. I’ve started dreaming about starting my own band and touring the world one day, and since he’s already done it himself and knows how to get there, that’s a huge source of motivation for me. Overall, I feel confident in being able to talk about and practise music since starting lessons. Having this confidence consistently inspires me to want to keep learning and I’m looking forward to seeing where music can take me. My musical journey with Jay has been truly incredible. I get so much out of each and every lesson with him, and I feel he is an absolute master of his craft. When I started working with Jay, I was already a professional sound healer and facilitator. Since then, my capacity as a guitarist has expanded tenfold. I’ve also begun writing my own songs, learning to improvise, playing more of my own material, and significantly up-levelling my skills as both a musician and sound practitioner. On a professional level, Jay makes me feel safe and supported in every lesson. He inspires me and provides gentle accountability that helps me show up week after week. This music school, and the incredible community that comes with it, has truly changed my life and my daughter’s life in so many positive ways. My daughter started taking piano lessons here about three years ago. Since then, she’s become confident not only on the piano but also on drums and guitar. Just this morning, I woke up to the sound of her practising guitar before school—not because she had to, but because she wanted to. She absolutely loves it. About a year ago, I began taking Jay’s online courses in medicine drum and sound healing, and I’m really excited to start my Sound Healing Facilitator Training with him in September. Jay’s passion and energy for what he does are next-level. His teaching style, always tailoring lessons to suit each student individually is truly inspiring. He teaches many different instruments and somehow brings them all together in a fun, engaging way. He teaches the latest songs and all the music my child wants to learn and that changed everything for us compared to any other teacher we’d had in the past. If any part of you is considering music lessons for your child, look no further. This is hands down the best music teacher and music school you’ll ever come across.
