Urban Canvas serves incredibly delicious food. Their menu offers a wide range of options, all of which are prepared well. I highly recommend using them as a caterer!

We had the plated wedding meal options with passed appetizers, as well as coffee and hot tea service. Overall, our service by the waitstaff was fantastic, but we had some issues with the caterer: When we talked to Colleen Barden about what we wanted at our food tasting, she told us our options were “a lot for them to do”, which made us feel a little guilty even though we hadn’t been given a limit of what we wanted to taste. These tastings were also public and we had to take off work for them, so it felt a little rude to make a comment like that when we couldn’t even do a tasting before booking with them. When we got to the tasting, the chef made us several things we did NOT ask for, as well as missing several things we did ask for. Clearly the amount we asked for was not a lot if he had plenty of time to make other things for us. They were able to “last minute” make one of the things we’d asked for, but they made it seem like a huge favor. So, be sure the day of the tasting to confirm and confirm your choices. The day of the wedding, our venue (Boo Cat Club) mistakenly told the chef he could start prep in the groom’s lounge which is next to the kitchen. While this was the fault of the venue, the chef berated my husband and our wedding planner before talking to the manager of the venue. Regardless of things going unexpectedly, it’s not acceptable to make comments like that to the groom. Additionally, this chef has supposedly worked with Boo Cat a number of times since it’s a preferred vendor of Boo Cat, so we were surprised that he was so shocked someone would be in that room since it’s clearly a groom’s lounge. The side that went to everyone with their meal, which was seasoned basmati rice, was severely undercooked to the point where it was inedible. We ordered coffee and tea service, but the coffee mugs were nowhere to be found and the coffee machine was not working. Thus, no one used it. We shared these concerns with Rachel, the managing director, and she did rectify the concerns by refunding us for the coffee and cups as well as half the amount we requested for the rice. We weren’t completely satisfied with the amount for the rice, but we appreciate that they at least acknowledged our concerns. They advertise their services as high quality, artisan, and “cutting edge” when it comes to culinary meals. We did generally enjoy their food and they were flexible in helping create a multicultural menu. However, their food was not cutting edge, was not prepared well the day of, and we were left with the impression that they are not as competent as they should be given their extensive experience in the wedding industry.

We had our wedding at The Noble recently, catered by Culinary Canvas and it was absolutely the best food we have ever had at a wedding. There are so many options available and we were so happy with everything we chose. The staff were kind, attentive, and very professional. Highly recommend.

The Culinary Canvas team is outstanding! We have hired them for small events (bagged lunches) to larger groups (50+) and they always delivered in quality of service and in food. Great menu options and a great team. I would highly recommend!
