Professional, these guys care about doing the best job possible. I had an antique mahogany dining set that had a scarred, alligator finish and warped leaves and was wobbly for thirty years: NOT ANYMORE!
Our antique desk leg got damaged during our move to Louisville, so we called John at Wood Doctors. We did not know him and no one had recommended him. It just seemed like a good business and we were right. John sent us pictures of a similar issue he had repaired. John and his helper came to get it and a week later returned it to us in wonderful condition, suggesting repairs on a few other issues. There was no pressure to accept additional repairs but we felt the price was fair, so we did and were glad we did. I highly recommend Wood Doctors and would call them immediately if we are in need of repairs.
David Erickson's Wood Doctors Repair & Restoration is an absolute mastershop. I am only too lucky to live in the same part of the US that they're located, right across the East end bridge. Erickson's woodworking expertise (and the expertise of his sons, who he mentored himself as they grew up) is remarkable. My wife's heirloom rocking chair, weathered by time and generations of neglect, was perfectly restored here. The attention to detail and care taken with this early 1900's piece of furniture was exceptional. The first thing David did was notice the "old growth" wood that my wife's great-great grandfather used to build it, which, I was informed, is the only reason it hadn't dissolved completely through years of wind, rain, snow, and all else. He was able to tell me exactly, without batting an eye, the order of all the layers of paint that were visible (there were 4 if I understood correctly). David was extremely friendly, showing me around his shop, where his sons do most of the hands-on work. I jokingly referred to them as his apprentices, and he quickly corrected me: "Masters. My sons are masters. I'd put them against anybody." We talked for a while about his history building and restoring furniture, his process, and eventually even got around to talking about reading the Bible, something we both take seriously and were able to share with each other. When I left my wife's most valuable possession with him (without her knowing even, it's restoration being a Christmas gift) I was absolutely confident he was the one to fix it, and I left completely at ease. He finished it in a timely manner and communicated openly through the whole process. Erickson's expertise, and that of his sons, is unparalleled—you will not find someone better in a 500 mile radius (or perhaps, on the whole Earth!) As he said when I went to pick up the restored chair from him: "I've done work for royalty... You got the same level of care as I gave them."
Brought in my great grandmother’s rocking chair to be restored as a present for my mom. They restored it to what I imagine is nearly new. It looks amazing and while it took some time, it was well worth the wait. Definitely recommend.
Un travail absolument magnifique. En 10 jours, ils ont restauré ma table et 6 chaises. La table est magnifique de haut en bas. Ils ont même refait la finition sous la table et réparé les côtés qui avaient été ternis et endommagés au fil des années. Une table de 20 ans est revenue à la vie, plus belle qu'elle ne l'était le premier jour où je l'ai eue. Les chaises étaient toutes endommagées et elles ont remplacé les assises par du bois neuf et posé un nouveau tissu. On peut enfin s'y asseoir en toute sécurité à nouveau ! :) Je ne pourrais pas être plus heureux. Et tout cela a été fait dans un délai serré. Ils ont mis tout leur cœur dans nos meubles et je leur suis tellement reconnaissant. Ça vaut chaque centime et je leur ferais confiance pour n'importe quelle pièce, à tout moment.
