Had breakfast at Drury Covent Garden this morning and honestly it was a lot better than I expected for such a quick stop. I wasn’t looking for anything big, just something light to start the day, so I went with a croissant, another coffee, and a grilled egg. Sounds simple, but the whole thing actually came together really nicely. The place itself has a relaxed vibe, kind of that “London café but not trying too hard” feel. People were just doing their own thing — some working, some chatting, some half-asleep like me — and it didn’t feel chaotic or rushed at all. The staff were chilled too, not overly chatty but friendly in that normal, human way. They took my order, kept it moving, and didn’t make it awkward. The croissant was warm and soft on the inside with just enough flakiness on the outside, but not the kind that makes crumbs fly everywhere. The grilled egg was actually really good, cooked properly and tasted fresh, not rubbery or dry like you sometimes get. And the coffee… honestly, that was the best part. Strong enough to wake me up but still smooth. Not bitter, not burnt, just solid. I sat there for a little while and the whole breakfast just felt easy and enjoyable. Nothing fancy, nothing dramatic, just a decent morning meal that hit exactly right. I’d happily swing by Drury Covent Garden again for another quick breakfast like that.
First visit here October 2025 for lunch. Drury 188-189 is the perfect spot if you’re looking for a warm and welcoming café in the heart of London. The atmosphere is cozy and stylish, with a relaxed buzz that makes it a great place to catch up with friends or just enjoy some downtime. The coffee is excellent, strong, smooth, and clearly made with care. I tried the Eggs Drury for brunch, which was delicious and generously portioned, and the pastries looked just as tempting. Everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. We also had salads from the lunch menus and it was delicious. Overall, this place delivers on both quality and vibe. Highly recommend for brunch or a coffee stop in Covent Garden, I’ll definitely be back! Be prepared to wait for a seat. It’s very busy and no reservations
Cute brunch restaurant. Feels like it caters a bit more to an American palette. We chose this because we didn’t want British pub food for breakfast lol. It was super crowded when we went on a Wednesday morning and we waited about 20 minutes for a table for 2. Most of the crowd seemed international/tourists. I liked my pastrami eggs Benedict - I was expecting it to be hot pastrami but it was cold cut. They have an incredible pastry selection and the donuts we had were delicious. My only piece of feedback is that I wish there wasn’t mint in the water pitcher and that the water was cold (warm mint water is not good).
