Visited today, not only was the place cluttered with many pathways not clear to walk I was treated horrible by the front desk clerk and the store manager. I have a mobility service dog that helps me walk safely due to a balance disorder. When the front desk ladies small dog went bonkers barking when she saw my dog the lady said "oh dogs aren't allowed here". I told her he was my service dog. She responded by saying she had to call her manager (also her mom) and ask if it was ok. I told her legally he was allowed to be with me. Front desk lady had no education on what questions she could legally ask me about a service dog before attempting to not allow me to shop in the store. A few minutes later an older lady appears 20 feet behind me and just stares. At first I asked if she was afraid of dog as I thought she was a customer as I was going to move my dog out of her way. She said no she just doesn't like big dogs as they can break things. I then realized she was a store employee. I asked if she worked there. Only then did she identify herself as the manager. I told her my dog was well trained and he would not break anything. She proceeded to keep following me around the store. I asked why she was following me. She said "oh in case you need anything moved or want to see anything". I told her that wouldn't be necessary. She continued to follow me. At this point I told her I felt harassed and discriminated against as there were other customers in the store that were not being followed. She repeated again the was worried about my large dog. For the record, my dog is a 70#black lab who completed 2 years of intensive training and didn't let out a peep when their front counter dog yapped its head off at my dog. My dog was clearly under control and had his mobility harness on that I use to balance. Horrible store, cluttered mess, nightmare for anyone with a cane, walker or disability. Will never return. Picture of my service dog attached- not at the actual store location as you can't even walk safely in this store. Don't know how they pass fire inspections.
Good stock and friendly family oriented environment with high and prices. Worth a stop!
Horrible.., the mother and daughter with a smile on their face will take your item , sell it and makeup an excuse why they didn’t send you the money A con artist at work with a smile in their face Beware of those 2 … Extremely dishonest I dropped off a $ 3000 carved divider … Never saw a dime They did admit that they sold it, but they told me that I didn’t call them to pick up the money which was a lie every time I called they would tell me it was not sold . I went there, it was gone Beware of that smile!!!.. they sold it …gone !
Staff are very friendly and helpful, and I would say the prices are fair for the work that goes into curation. However, the store is so cluttered that only a single path remains to walk through and browse. Stacks of boxes and furniture make it impossible to even see large parts of the store. The fact that recent reviews don’t mention this is odd to me. The owner mentioned “just getting stuff in,” but it is obvious that this clutter has been building for a while. Lovely people and wonderful finds here, but certainly not accessible or easy to shop.
I am so glad I finally stopped into Emporium. Family owned and run, they have a ton of stuff everywhere and that adds to the charm! The whimsy! There is something for everyone here and incredibly reasonable prices too. Definitely a store for those of us who like to live surrounded by the fun life has to offer.
