A gem of a place. Quality people doing quality work. I asked them to glue up and refinish my reproduction antique tabletop. The purpose of the glue up was to turn the 4 pieces of the top into a solid piece. I had removed the skirt before bringing the pieces in. Dan Jr sent me back home for the skirt and they ended up fabricating the pieces to make a full 360 degree skirt. It looks amazing. Then they finished it all with a nice mahogany color stain and light gloss urethane.

We had a 27 year old bench that had been in our condominium's front hall and had seen better days. I took it to Falvey Finishing to be glued, refinished, and reupholstered. Mr. Falvey was a pleasure to work with. He understood just what I wanted done. He and his people did a beautiful job. The bench looks brand new. Outstanding 5-STAR company. The place to go if you have furniture that needs expert repair. And it was all done at a reasonable and fair price.

So I inherited an old maple drop leaf table and 2 rush seat chairs. The set was in need of a makeover and updating. I wanted to let the maple wood grain show but wanted a slight color to go with today’s look. For whatever reasons like a lot of things it’s hard to get someone to even call you back. Mr. Falvey himself called me and we discussed what I needed done. I had read good reviews of his business and didn’t want to entrust this job to just anyone. Now mind you this is a pretty big business with lots of employees and doing lots of work. Countless furniture pieces but also restoring old homes and churches in Boston. Therefore I was surprised but pleased that Mr. Falvey called me himself. I went ahead and decided to use him and dropped off the set. I wasn’t in a hurry and he upfront told me it would take a while. We also corresponded by email with updates. After the pieces were stripped down to the original maple wood Mr. Falvey had us come into the shop and decide what color stain we wanted. We described what we were thinking of and he said give me a minute. He promptly came back with a color that we thought was perfect. He said let’s put it in a similar piece of maple wood and see if you like it. We loved it even more and gave him the go ahead. I picked up the finished set the other day and was extremely satisfied with the end results. It is beyond what I was hoping for and keeps the integrity of the old but blends well in our home with the new. I have included some photos of the set before and after. In conclusion you could not make a better choice than Falvey Refinishing.

On m'a parlé de Falvey par un marchand spécialisé dans le design moderne du milieu du siècle. Ils ont pris grand soin d'une pièce qui datait de cette époque et qui s'était cassée, plus rapidement que prévu et pour un prix très raisonnable. J'y apporterai tout mon mobilier et je les ai recommandés à ma famille et à mes amis. D'autres entreprises de restauration que j'avais appelées ne comprenaient pas que le design moderne du milieu du siècle n'est pas la même chose que les antiquités de l'époque coloniale. Plusieurs m'ont donné des devis qui coûtaient plus du double, et dans un cas plus que la valeur du meuble (qui valait plus de 10 fois ce que j'ai payé à Falvey). J'ai eu l'impression que certaines personnes de ce métier pensent que vous êtes riche si vous voulez prendre soin d'un héritage. Ceux-ci sont les bons gars.
