My girl lost her phone there the two dashing gents who worked there spent 30 minutes looking for her phone with us!! Customer service is truly one of a kind! Got an amazing vintage chair too!!
Went in to look for a table and found the most perfect circular one! The owner is so nice, helped me breakdown my dog kennel in my car to make room for the table AND let me borrow their socket wrench so I could put it together at my house. I’ve already recommended them to a bunch of friends - definitely go!
Walking into Far Out Home Fittings feels like stepping into another world—one where mid-century cool, psychedelic vibes, and Austin charm collide in the most delightful way. This isn’t your average furniture store. It’s an experience, a gallery, and a conversation starter all in one. Every corner of the shop bursts with personality. Whether you’re into bold prints, retro silhouettes, quirky one-of-a-kind items, or just want something that doesn’t look like it came off a showroom conveyor belt, this place delivers. I was instantly drawn in by the vibrant colors, eclectic arrangements, and the way each piece seems to be curated with both humor and heart. It’s funky in the best sense of the word—not weird for the sake of being weird, but stylish, smart, and soulful. I was on the hunt for a statement piece for my living room and ended up finding the most incredible original piece of art for my wall. The owner, Kevin Johnson, was fantastic—welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about design. He gave me insight into the story behind the piece, offered suggestions on how to style it with my existing decor, and never once made me feel rushed or pressured. What I also appreciated was the mix of affordability and quality. You can tell Kevin prioritizes craftsmanship and uniqueness over mass production, but without the absurd price tags you’d find at some “boutique” spots. They also had a great range—from bold statement furniture to smaller accessories and gifts, all with that signature Far Out twist. This place is such a refreshing change from the typical furniture shopping experience. It’s deeply rooted in Austin’s creative spirit and offers something truly different. If you love design, vintage charm, or just want your home to reflect your individuality, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. Far Out Home Fittings is now my go-to for furniture that sparks joy—and conversation.
Cool eclectic spot. Very old school south Austin vibes. Parking is available, but be careful not to miss the driveway. If you do there is street parking but you’ll have to walk a few hundred feet. They have a large selection of light up sign letters.
I came looking for copper (a desk) and found gold. I don't know why, but it felt like I just travel back in time. It reminds me so much of what Austin used to be like. Nonetheless, it still represents a lot of what it still is now: An eccentric, outgoing and music town. Furthermore, the staff is very friendly and fun to talk to. Note: it's very easy to get lost in all the interesting things they have.
