Great oysters and mocktails! My buddy got the chowder and crab cake which he said was delicious! Nice venue and they have TVs perfect for sports.
Didn’t realize this was a chain restaurant. We came here for a dinner on our way back to Austin visiting SA, what a gem. The food was amazing… they didn’t just douse fish in sauce, but rather grilled it right. Quality food! Gumbo was one of my favorites! Wine and fishes were stellar. Confusingly affordable. Samantha, our waitress, was great too. Definitely will come back next time we are in TX!
Came here for dinner on a weekday and it was about half full, so was seated right away. There's also a small outside patio which would be nice on a cooler day. Server immediately came over to take drink orders and also point out the specials written on the back chalkboard. There were some nice options not on the main menu. Ordered some Oysters and Fried Green Tomatoes while we looked over the menu and specials. We ordered everything from Rainbow Trout, Flounder Special, Fish & Chips, Tacos, Salmon, Gumbo, etc.. Everything was brought together within 15 minutes and looked great. Each dish tasted as good as it looked. Finished the meal with Bread Pudding for dessert. Our server, Mitch, did a great job as was very prompt and attentive. Will come back for other dishes.
Fish City Grill is a solid option for a chain restaurant, and we've generally had good experiences there. The atmosphere is casual and the service is reliable, making it a comfortable spot for a casual meal out. To start, we ordered the Fried Dill Pickles, which were fantastic—crispy, tangy, and a great way to kick off the meal. For our entrées, the grilled Mediterranean Branzino was unfortunately disappointing. While the fish itself was flaky and perfectly seasoned, it was smothered in a creamy olive pesto that completely overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the fish. The pesto became the dominant flavor profile, making it a dish we would not order again. We also tried the Fish & Chips, which were a letdown. The fish was undercooked, and the batter was still runny, rendering about half the dish inedible. It was far too greasy to enjoy. Overall, while the atmosphere and service are great, our recent experience with the main dishes was mixed. We’d recommend trying other items on the menu and perhaps steering clear of the fried dishes for a while.
I can’t say enough of what a little hidden gem this place is and of my favorite first experiences in San Antonio!! I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service and warm, family-like atmosphere. The staff's genuine happiness was evident, and they went above and beyond to accommodate my needs, making me feel truly valued. The daily specials menu, which changes regularly, offered a delightful variety of dishes, showcasing the chef's creativity and commitment to fresh ingredients. It was so hard to choose one dish!! I was also moved to learn that the restaurant donates weekly to local causes, organizations, and charities, reflecting their dedication to the community. Both my server and the manager provided outstanding service, enhancing the overall dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking not only delicious food, but also a place where you can feel the joy and commitment of the entire team.!!
