A very classic Italian restaurant. Since I’m from Taiwan and don’t love heavy flavours, the chef made a lighter version for me while keeping the original taste. Really delicious — definitely worth trying when you visit Melbourne.
I absolutely loved the atmosphere here! I was amazed when I walked in; the place was so exquisite and had such a lovely ambiance. It's perfect for couples' dates or gatherings with friends. Every corner was thoughtfully decorated, and the staff were very friendly and attentive in explaining the food. The food was consistently excellent 👍. I especially loved the entrees ,and their signature cocktails 🍹 were also delicious. Next time my friends visit Melbourne, I'll definitely recommend this Italian restaurant to them! 👍
Foglia di Fico, meaning ‘Fig Leaf’, is a very charming Italian fine dining restaurant located at the corner of Spencer and La Trobe Street. All their pasta and sourdough are freshly made on the premises by Jerry's hands. We enjoyed the 5-course dégustation menu. Every mouthful of food was an experience of bold flavours with subtle complexity. The overall atmosphere was warm and inviting. I’d call this restaurant one of the crowing jewels in Melbourne. It has set the bar for restaurants serving Italian cuisine higher. It is one of the restaurants I will definitely return for another dining experience whenever I visit Melbourne.
I absolutely loved the duck gnocchi, rich, comforting, and full of flavour (my friend wasn’t a fan, but I’d order it again in a heartbeat). The squid ink pasta with prawns was another standout, fresh, balanced, and perfectly cooked. Swordfish was decent, but not as memorable. All the entrees were lovely, fresh, well-seasoned, and plated with care. Overall a really enjoyable meal. Would definitely return for the gnocchi and pasta.
A Lovely Experience at Foglia di Fico: My partner and I were exploring the area, and the interior of Foglia di Fico immediately caught our attention. While the tables are set relatively close to one another, the lighting, walls, and overall décor create a warm, cozy, and private atmosphere. It’s a space that has been thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail. I made a reservation for our anniversary, and even though we arrived a few minutes earlier than planned, we were greeted warmly and our table was already prepared. To start, we ordered the arancini and tomino as antipasti, both of which were delightful. The portions were just right, and the flavors and textures were truly enjoyable. However, I must highlight the “cappellacci neri di mare,” which was an absolutely amazing dish. The pasta, filled with delicious crab, was complemented by an incredibly flavorful base that was perfectly balanced with seafood. The prawns, with their subtle smoky flavor and grilled texture, added a wonderful depth to the dish, making every bite even more enjoyable. This pasta is both inventive and creative, it’s not your typical frutti di mare pasta, it’s even better. 🍤 The waitstaff was attentive and offered excellent wine recommendations, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the evening. To top off the experience, they surprised us with a “passito” to celebrate our anniversary, making our romantic dinner just perfect. Thank you so much, Foglia di Fico.
