This is my 2nd reciprocal reservation in Pittsburgh. My home club is in St. Clair MI. Beautiful fall trip along the three rivers. Dylan was great in his role as dock hand. Local to the area. Knew where to go with the time we had. Got to meet the franchise owner Michael. I plan my vacations around available clubs. In my 7 day trip I was able to go boating at 4 locations. No trailering a boat. No maintenance. No docking fees. Easy to navigate and lots to see. We'll be back!

I’ve really enjoyed my Freedom Boat Club membership during my 1st year as a member. The Pittsburgh location based at the Station Square Marina, with a variety of different types of boats and friendly Dock Staff have been great, but what really adds value to my membership are all the reciprocal locations and uses. Over the Spring/Summer, I’ve used boats at about 15 different reciprocal FBC locations in FL, NC, NJ, NY, OH and MD, in addition, to over 40 different boat uses from my home/Pittsburgh location. During November, after the Station Square location closed for the winter, I have used boats at 3 different FL locations, in addition to Lake Lanier in GA and on the Tennessee River in Knoxville, TN. Every reciprocal FBC location has had nice boats, deluxe marinas, friendly staff and I’ve never had a problem reserving a boat with the easy to use mobile app. I’m looking forward to using boats at numerous reciprocal FBC locations over the Winter and Spring Seasons until the Pittsburgh location reopens in May. With Thanksgiving only a few days away, I’ve recently made a few reciprocal boat reservations for early December on Hilton Head Island.

We aren’t members yet but we went with our friends who are members. I would say the people who work there are extremely friendly and helpful and like to assist. Great people and they indirectly encourage you to become member with their outstanding service. Few things would be worth mentioning nonetheless: Boats are clean and neat though they are pretty small and generally speaking 6 people would be max that can comfortably fit in. It would be nice to have one or 2 that could fit 10-12 people with a table in the middle to enjoy a nice meal while enjoying scenery and water ride. Maybe they can do a little surcharge for the bigger size boat but that would make it a lot more appealing at that time.

My boyfriend and I were one of the first members to join Pittsburgh’s Freedom Boat Club. And I can honestly say that, if you love boating, it is one of the best investments you will make. First, the boat club is an amazing concept- especially if you live in a northern city like Pittsburgh where the boating season is abbreviated by cold winters. There’s no hassle of dock fees, winter storage and spring commissioning. That is all taken care of by the club and your monthly dues. You just reserve a boat and enjoy! Second, Michael Hills (the owner) and his team of Captains and Dock Masters are wonderful people to work with and be around. They are accommodating and eager to help in anyway they can- this comes in handy, especially if you’re a novice trying to break into boating. They will help you learn and make you feel comfortable handling a boat! There are so many perks of being a member of the boat club. The first of many is the reciprocal access! There are over 190 locations in the US and abroad and you have access to ALL of them! This means that you can reserve, go to any Club and take a boat out there (which is great for getting away to warmer places during the cold winter months in Pittsburgh). So far, we have been to Miami and Charleston and plan to go to San Francisco! If you’re worried about time off during the winters, Michael plans amazing Boat Club Socials just about every month! We have had a casino night on the Gateway Clipper, a party on the dock (with Crab legs!), and a food and wine pairing social! We’ve made a lot of friends through the Club. This has been such a great experience for us!

Freedom boat club has made my husband fall in love with the city of Pittsburgh (he’s not a native) and boating! We joined last year shortly after the franchise opened and have never looked back. Just show up, take the boat out and have fun. Then bring it back and you’re done, the dock masters do the rest! No cleaning, storage, or maintenance!! Prior to joining FBC, neither my husband nor I had operated a boat before. The dock masters host trainings and go out with you on the water to ensure your safety and that you feel comfortable learning the ins and outs of boating. Want more practice? They’re willing to come out with you and work with you any day. The owner Michael and his staff have been wonderful, even putting together social events for members in the off season which have been a lot of fun! One of the best perks of FBC is having access to over 100 reciprocal locations (the Florida clubs are great during the Pittsburgh winters!!). We can’t wait for boating season 2020.
