This review is long overdue but I thought it would be good to share it. The staff is extremely dedicated to the wellbeing of not just animals but any person that walks in through their doors and it is very apparent. During such a difficult time I received nothing but kindness from management, reception, kennel technician, and every employee I interacted with. I’m amazed at how they treated every creature with such love and care, no matter if they were furry, small, scaley or “creepy”. Really such wonderful people who go above and beyond. I could not be more thankful for how much they’ve helped me and countless others.

I believe animals should be taking care of. After all we are all from planet earth. We have interfered in their life . So we should take care of them . Not abandoned them in a shelter. Front Street it self has great people working taking care of these precious animals . They are great . Great service. We should support them. Good luck thank you for being there for these animals. Thumbs up.

I adopted the most cutest and sweetest dog ever to give her a second chance at companionship and love. I gladly paid the $300 adoption fee only to pick up and for her be covered in dirt with matted hair!!!! and to make matters worse, I was told that because she had surgery the day that I picked her up ( the date I was told to pick her up) that I cannot bathe her for 10 DAYS!!! I had to purchase allergy medicine for my daughter and I because neither one of us can stop sneezing. This was so inconsiderate and I am extremely disappointed in the lack of care that my baby girl was shown. I adopted her on 08/09/25 and was told to pick her up on 08/13/25 they had 4 DAYS prior to me picking her up to ensure she was clean. I hope this message is read and received, so that changes can be made because this is utterly UNACCEPTABLE.

A week ago we adopted our dog, formerly known as Cuteness, and had a great experience. It was our first time at this shelter and I was really impressed with how organized they were. We were greeted right away and requested to see two dogs. One had already been adopted so we only met one dog, which was actually the dog we thought would be a good fit for our family. 15 minutes later a gentleman came out to show us around. He was very knowledgeable and gave a list of all the available dogs. The meet and greet was a success & we fell in love right away. After completing all our paperwork through our phone, we were set. The wait between filling paperwork and receiving his medical records took over a half hour due to circumstances out of their control. Totally fine, it happens. They gave us a bag of food, a leash, and collar. It was such a great experience and so opposite compared to another shelter where I found my last dog over a decade ago. Our new dog settled in right away, he's such a wonderful fit for our family. Below is a picture of him being a nosy neighbor.

I've been working at a construction project in North Sac (Lampasas Ave. / Edgewater Drive) for the last few months. Almost every day, this sweet female German Shepherd mix, who has been freely walking the streets for months, comes by to visit & I give her food, water & shade. She has been in a constant battle with pit bulls that are coming from a nearby homeless encampment. Most times she outruns them, but not this time. When she showed up yesterday, she was chewed up pretty bad, with infected puncture wounds & I had seen enough! I took her into the shelter & much to my amazement, was informed that she is locally owned & is microchipped! How any pet owner can let this beautiful, sweetheart run freely on the streets & end up like this is totally disgusting!!! In my opinion, such a person should be prosecuted, but I'm sure they would use some lame excuse like, "She ran away, and we couldn't find her." Yeah, right! I truly hope that the Front Street no-kill shelter will not return this sweet girl to a person who would let something like this happen to her, otherwise she will end up dead on the street! I'm just happy that I was able to take her somewhere that she can get much needed medical attention, and hopefully be placed in a loving home! Every dog deserves a home, but every home doesn't deserve a dog!
