I’ve joined Gracie Barra a few weeks back and every single person in there welcomes you with open arms… then puts you in a guillotine for good measure hahaha no they don’t I’m only kidding. Every single person there has the time of day for you, super friendly and super helpful. You become part of their big family. All the coaches will walk around to make sure you are performing the technique correctly and if you have any questions they are more than happy to answer them. Perfect for people struggling with mental health, want to learn the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and also just to keep fit. 100% recommend this place to anyone
I was looking to start bjj for a while and I found Gracie Barra Cardiff (an organisation with over 800 schools worldwide) on Google. After a brief telephone conversation with Rik he invited me for a session and I've been part of the family since. One of the best thing I ever done. Rik is a fantastic professor and a great guy and everyone in the team is nice and helpful.
Super friendly club with excellent coaching from Professor Rik. As a female member with no previous martial arts experience, I was made to feel very welcome and at ease from day 1. There are women’s changing rooms and the gym is clean with lots of great equipment. There is a well laid out syllabus to follow and a strong emphasis on self-defence. The location is easy to find with good parking. I can’t wait for my children to be old enough so they can join the kids club. Highly recommend dropping in for a free session. 5 stars.
Great gym and community. Having tried a few different gyms I found Professor Ric’s coaching to be the best. He is extremely friendly but clearly a badass and I trust him wholeheartedly to help my wife, kids and I to learn the art of BJJ. I highly recommend dropping in for a session at Gracie Barra Cardiff.
Rik is an excellent teacher, goes through each move and sequence thoroughly. Really enjoyable training sessions with a great bunch of people. Would highly recommend to anyone of all ages and backgrounds that want to learn BJJ and self defence.
