My wife and I decided to skip the tour and ended up paying just $10 to park. We drove to the top of the road, and visited the gift shop on the way down while enjoying the views. Seeing the scale of it all in person was amazing. Definitely worth the trip!

I am so glad we made this trip. It was very worthwhile. There’s parking on both the Nevada side and the Arizona side where you could pay $10 to park which gets you closer to the dam but if you don’t mind walking a little bit, I would save your $10 and just walk. The view was awesome. There’s a lot of history. There were some neat monuments. Some of the sidewalks are kind of small so when you get those couples that can’t walk in front of each other and they have to walk side-by-side it makes it a little annoying but it’s all about the view. The bathrooms were kind of gnarly so I took a picture of the toilet so I’ve never seen toilets like that. The gift store is your typical gift store if you take away the zero that’s probably what it should cost, but obviously everything is much more at a gift shop. We did not go on a personal tour because we did not want to spend the entire day there so we just kind of did it on our own and read the plaques. I think that was good enough.

This was an amazing experience!!!! We had Amanda as our tour guide and she did a phenomenal job!!!!! Great info, wild story about building it. And epic sights to see. Highly recommend doing the full tour and seeing inside the dam as well as the power plant. All staff we encountered was friendly and helpful!

Very neat experience! We did the power plant tour through Pink Jeep, where they take you down to the bottom to see the massive pipes and the turbines. Our tour guide was very informative and it was super cool to see everything in person. After that we went to the observation deck and walked across the dam. Definitely a sight to see! Be prepared to spend a bit of time at the entrance and clearing the checkpoint.

During Thanksgiving break, we drove less than an hour from Las Vegas to Hoover Dam . After the Hoover Dam Tour, my wife kept reminding my kids to remember a few key facts: • Construction began in 1931 and the dam opened in 1936 • It was originally called Boulder Dam before being renamed Hoover Dam • Workers earned only four dollars a day, yet built this incredible project in just five years • Today, it still provides water and power to seven states. The dam also sits across two time zones—Pacific Time and Mountain Time. Hoover Dam created more than 20,000 jobs during construction, making a huge impact during the Great Depression. I hope my kids remember this history. And if they forget, we’ll just remind them again.
