My favorite things about Hung Fong: The egg rolls……are…SO good (I cannot pad up a hand rolled egg roll). Their shrimp toast is good…bonus points for the lil’ half cherries! I LOVE their wonton soup - it’s like deconstructed wonton soup and I really enjoyed it! Flavorful but light and gentle (if you add a little chili crisp, it elevates it a notch and is SO good). The general vibe - family operated, super chill and very retro. I love all of the little details - the clock on the wall near the entrance is SO cool. Oh - the service is FANTASTIC!

Welp, my dogs have a lot of food but my belly isn’t too full. The Lemon chicken was the only good thing about this place. My plate was $13 and I saw if we sub for fried rice it’s a $1something more. We both wanted this. The look of food was not what we expected. We wanted Just plain fried rice like the mall. Only 1 plate was like this. We got charged $11 for chicken fried rice yet no chicken lol seems scammy. The taste was just onion heavy. Server was slow, he just kept hanging out with cashier. We never wanted to leave a place so fast.

Have been coming here for years. In the past this place used to have amazing and flavorful food. All of that has changed. I have always loved the decor of this restaurant but when you look up you can see a lot of water damaged and parts of the ceiling look like it's going to fall one day soon. Family and I dined in and ordered: -3 deluxe plates: 1. Lemon chicken and chicken chow mein 2. Lemon chicken and Mongolian beef 3. Lemon chicken and beef with broccoli Soups: 2 wonton and 1 egg drop 2 egg roll and 2 cheese rangoon - shrimp chop suey - order of Rangoon - 1 egg roll -8 oz to go sweet and sour Deluxe L.C. with chicken chow mein. Lemon chicken is always great here. The chicken is white and juicy. The sauce comes in a small cup and taste like delicious sweet lemon. Chicken chow mein comes with the crunchy fried noodles on top of chicken and veggies in a white sauce. It really had no flavor. Fried rice needed to be dressed with soy sauce and sweet and sour. Deluxe L.C. with Mongolian beef. The Mongolian beef had no spice at all. The flavor was a bit bland but the sauce tasted nice with the crispy veggies. Deluxe L.C. with broccoli and beef. There was barely any meat(which is fine) or water chest nuts but plenty of onions, carrots, and broccoli. The meat is sliced very thin and extremely tough and chewy. The veggies are crispy and crunchy. None of the items had seasonings. Shrimp Chop Suey is usually a hit. This time around all you could taste was salt. It usually comes with fried noodles but not this time. I am guessing it is an extra charge. We did as for some but never got any. Wonton soup bland. Just tasted like hot water and noodles. Egg drop soup no flavor even when pepper was added. Not even an egg taste. The consistency is nice and thick. Egg roll no longer has ginger in it. If it wasn't for the hot greasy fried wrap it wouldn't have flavor instead it tasted like greasy fried chicken crust, which is guilty pleasure of mine. Cheese rangoon has a strong onion flavor and I'm thinking they add like a crab flavoring because there was a small hint of that. The wonton wrapper was not crispy but soggy. Overall the quality and quantity has gone done and not worth the price. $89 before tip

Super great food and excellent service. No wonder they have been in busisness since 1939. I absolutely love their Fresh Hand Rolled Egg Rolls. Some of the best egg rolls I've ever had.

⭐️ Hung Fong San Antonio – Mixed Feelings, But Worth Mentioning Stopped by Hung Fong for a quick takeout fix and walked away with a tale of two dishes. 🥡 Shrimp Fried Rice This one didn’t quite rise to the occasion. The flavor felt a little flat—was soy sauce even invited to the party? The bean sprouts and onions gave it a much-needed lift, but overall, the portion was surprisingly skimpy for a main entrée. Good texture, but left us wanting more… in every sense. 🥚Combination Egg Foo Young (Chicken, Pork, Shrimp) Now this had promise. The patties were flavorful, and the meat trio played nicely together. But with three generous patties, the gravy situation was a bit stingy. Tasty, yes—but just a few ladles short of greatness It’s a spot with potential, especially if they can boost the seasoning and show a little more love with the portions and sauces. Would I return? Maybe—but I’d advised when fried rice is ordered advised them to not make the fried rice blonde but you like it brunette with soy sauce if at all possible.
